Can Sonar 8.5 or X1 use Logic Pro plugins?
Does anyone know if Sonar can use plugs developed for Logic Pro? I don't think they're VST format but not sure. I want to use Serato Pitch 'n Time LE, or something as good, in Sonar 8.5. If X1 will support I'll upgrade. I'm trying to find an artifact-free plugin for pitch/time shifting of complex mixes. V-vocal, SoundForge, Autotune and so many others are fine for mono tracks, meaning single vocals/instruments, not final mixes. Using these with mixes produces phasing and artifacts which are too noticeable for my taste. Demos of this plugin are the best I've heard to date. I havent' heard the Waves SoundShifter yet which some rate pretty high.

First time I see a plug-in marketed as such. :s Short answer, no. The only application which works with Pitch N Time on the PC is Pro Tools. Maybe someone will have a suggestion. I never had to pitch-shift an entire final mix.

Right as Rain. Logic plugins are in a format that is not compatible with SONAR or any other Windows-based DAW. Just be glad you're not on the other side of that glass, sadly looking out at all the plugins that are PC-only. Good luck finding a tool that will edit pitch and time on full mixes. I don't think it's been invented yet.

Maybe you misunderstand. Actually it has been invented. There are many plugins out there, it's just the quality of some are better than others as my post mentioned. The one built into SoundForge is pretty good but the result is not without some artifacts noticeable to a trained ear. Very usable but not to my preferred standard. Take a listen to the demos at Serato at http://serato.com/pitchntime/examples . No artifacts that I can hear even up or down 6 semitones. The reason I need this is not to fix a 'pitchy' lead track in Sonar but take a finished 2 track backup and pitch it up or down a little for the vocalist when the backup tracks are not in a good range for the singer(s), and I don't have the original multitrack file. Thanks for the comments.

well, I'm confused. what has been invented? your original question was "Does anyone know if Sonar can use plugs developed for Logic Pro? I don't think they're VST format but not sure. I want to use Serato Pitch 'n Time LE, or something as good, in Sonar 8.5." and you go on to say you'll upgrade to X1 if X1 can do it. Rain and bitflipper answered "No, they're not compatible in Sonar" (any version) your response was "...you misunderstand. Actually it has been invented." WHAT has been invented? your response doesn't make sense.

He was replying to my assertion that such a plugin may not exist. What I misunderstood is that he's simply trying to pitch up an entire mix, which can be done with existing tools. Just not very well. I have heard that Waves' Soundshifter is good, and it's on sale at Waves Universe for $337.

Because this said plug in will not work with Sonar and no one here has ever had good results pitch shifting an entire mix ( ever) then your next step would be to ask the people who use logic and Pro tools if they are happy with the results. Try those forums or Gear Slutz. You will then be faced with purchasing one of those DAW's ..That's going to cost a lot of money so I hope this is critically important. If you think of the complexities of a musical wave file, the harmonics, the overtones all those wonderful things that please the ear, how can that not be destroyed by pitch shifting? It would be something if it has been perfected.

Serato is meant as a DJ tool that mimics the slider on a deck. If you really want the effect, press the song to vinyl and use the pitch control on a turntable. Probably cheaper then buying a new DAW.
