Can Sonar X1 "draw" audio?

I don't know the actual term so I used "draw".

I have a "glitch" in one of my tracks. When I zoom up on it, I can see the positive side of a sine wave and right at the peak, the signal drops to zero. It makes an awful noise when played. It seems like, I could somehow, erase the "glitch" and then draw the new audio with a cursor.

I want to do something similar to image editing programs where you can erase pixels and draw new ones.

Looking at my audio waveform, zoomed in, it is obvious what is making the noise. I want to erase the offending "glitch" and re-draw the waveform. Is this possible?

I ended up deleting that section with the glitch and doing an auto cross fade between the remaining audio on either side of the glitch. This worked well because the glitch was so small but it just seems like I should be able to re-draw the waveform.

Thanks

No, it doesn't have tools for directly editing the wave. The paradigm is more that you are editing the clip, which is a container for the wave, but not the wave itself directly.

For the situation you describe, what I do is cut out the clicks and copy and paste sample sized bits fropm nearby to fill the gap. Not what you asked, I know, but a completely effective method.

Actually, that is a great idea and I didn't think of that. If it happens again, I will give it a try. In this particular case, I could have just as easily deleted and re-recorded the track but I want to learn how to use the tools. While this track was nothing special, what if it was? I wonder if there is a third part tool that only does that kind of fine grained editing of wave files. I will do a search and find out. Thanks for posting!

I use Sound Forge as a wave editor for that kind of thing. A lot of people use Audacity, which is free.

I use sound forge for that too..... Back in the late 80s I used my Roland S-50 with a digitizer tablet (made for it) to draw sound wavs and edit envelopes. Way ahead... Drawing is a great way to fix digital glitches....

I have to thank you guys again. I loaded the track in Audacity and moved the samples to make the waveform look "normal". While it sounded much better, it still had a clicking sound. I undid the edit and ran the "Repair" effect on that section. It really changed the waveform. A lot more than I was doing with dragging samples around. However, the result was perfect! Thanks again for the pointer to Audacity. This is getting really fun! lol
