Can Sonar configure the computer keyboard to trigger MIDI notes?

In other words, if I brought up Sonar and loaded, say, Addictive Drums, and just
tapped on the PC keyboard, can I configure it to trigger MIDI and produce the sounds?

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

so the answer is "no?" If I just instantiated Sonar X3, opened a MIDI track, and started hitting keys on my
pc keyboard, there's nothing in X3 to record it as Midi?

    Just want to confirm this...

Correct. The keyboard is reserved for entering text and shortcuts.

There is actually a good selection of MIDI controllers at 25-key and 49-key size, many of which sell new for <$99, and you can score on eBay for $30-40. It's totally worth it!! The 25-keys have octave shift to make drum and bass entry easy.
