Can Sonar slow down music for practicing?
Does anyone know if I can slow down music in Sonar without changing pitch? I'd like to do this to slow down, and loop parts of songs for learning purposes. Thanks, Sam

At least in SONAR PE 6 it's easy, but to be safe, you better save the slowed down track as a separate file. I've used Process>Length to slow down or speed up songs, but I've never tested it's limits to see how big a change it tolerates. It's not a real time FX though, which you can toggle on/off. You have to convert the track, which is clumsier than what you're looking for, perhaps. Doesn't Groove clip audio adapt to the project tempo??
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Its easy in sonar 6,7,8 and 8.5. Just use audio snap. It works great! You can go from 120BPM to 60BPM with no artifacts

Another option is to download Amplitube 3 Free. It has what they call "Speed Trainer" for exactly the purpose you want. I use it a bit, just dro a .wav file in, and choose how much to slow it with the slider, and start practicing. Cheers - Cliff

You can go from 120BPM to 60BPM with no artifacts Even using the RadiusMixAdvanced algorithm, I've never been able to get an AS'd mix artifact free. On individual parts... yea, pretty good (like solo piano or bass or drums). AudioSnap is a great tool, but it does have it's limitations. For your purposes of practicing, it's perfect... I'd agree. Peace, Ian

I am in the same boat with Ian. Most times I cant even quantize parts by small amounts with no artifacts, forget about changing the tempo drastically.

Im not the only one that can change the tempo of songs without any artifacts. it works and it works great for this. I hate to say it, but user error is the reason why you cant achieve this.
