Can not get Jamstix to record

Hello fellows in X1,
 
I've been plucking away at it patiently trying to learn it's so called efficiencies (which always seem to be an extra step then the old Cakewalk) but i'm not complaining.  I love the new toys.
What i can not do is get my midi Jamstix track to actually record.  I arm it for recording, the light is on, i click it and it plays and the track gets all highlighted (red) likes it recording yet there is no midi being put down.
 
Does anyone know why this is or how to remedy?
