Can nskit7 be mapped into a Sonar X1 drumkit?

I still have the free version of nskit7 from years ago, and always loved the sounds of the drumkit. I never understood mapping, so it's never been used, but is there any route by which these wav files could be mapped into a kit for Sonar X1?

the session drummer softsynth is GM mapped, so yes, it can be done, but you'd need the note number assignments for the nskit7.

I have the pdf file which includes a keyboard illustration of the map, if that will lead me anywhere. I will have to translate the notes, since I do not know the keyboard on sight, but I can do it based on middle C.

Is there a good tutorial on gm mapping?

    Thanks, Beagle.

this should help.  just use the drum map to map the input notes (nskit7) to the output notes (GM)

also, there's a general drum map for General MIDI already, so I would just use it and that will be a starting place since you already have the output notes mapped correctly to GM.

All outstanding help, thank you everyone.

If I may ask the simplest, and probably lamest question of all... where I am to put this folder full of wav samples before I start GM mapping? I really don't understand the route from sample files to sfz files, then to getting SD3 to play with it all. Can anyone make this simple enough for a teenager?

Glyn Barnes, excellent links. I have followed the first bit of instructions and created/mapped my preset. On to the tricky parts, but I should be able to do this.

    Thanks again!

I think I understand just about all of the mapping, that's not so hard. But where are my drum samples supposed to reside?
I followed the directions on that pdf file, but it assumes I have preloaded a VSTi.
