Can plugin windows be reduced in size, they cover too much screen

Hi,

I seem to use a lot of plugins these days and notice many of them take up a lot of space on screen (Sonar Platinum). Is there a way to resize them to a smaller window so that they can fit better? I use 2 monitors now, 1 for track view and the other for console view. I even tried a 3rd monitor dedicated just to plugins but my computer didn't run smoothly with 3 monitors so it looks like i'm stuck using only 2 for now. I think I recall a previous version of Sonar allowed 3rd party plugins to be incorporated somewhat into the channel FX with a a few of the key buttons\knobs\sliders available in that view, similar to the Pro Channel. Any suggestions?

Thanx, FW

I think you are thinking of FX Chains.

This is why I have found the plug in window recycling so useful, as well as the multidock and screen sets.

Resizing an app is dependent on the developer, and that particular piece can take a lot of programming effort. Most choose a set UI size and go from there, so resizing them is not possible. This is UI dependent, not something SONAR can control. Resizing Windows itself would work, but would also resize all applications.

As JB said, I use screensets.
you can open the plug ins on one screenset, then have them closed on another.
its one press of a button and will open certain ones, while another 1 press will close them.

Don't forget about the X-Ray option, either. A very small number of plug-ins are reported not to like it, but I find it useful.

Other than using Screen sets your only option would be getting a better ratio monitor.  As long as your video card can handle it, going to even a 4K monitor would make a huge difference in the overall size of your plugins

Thanx for all of the responses. I'm currently on my laptop with Sonar and my Izotope 2 takes up a third of the screen, not good. And when I add BREVERB2, almost all of the screen is taken up by just 2 plugins. Hopefully plugin makers will start including resizing options.

My best desk-top solution so far is to reduce the size of my console on the 2nd monitor to about a fourth of the screen and then float the plugins around the screen. This method allows all of the the plugins to stay open simultaneously. I'll try devising and saving various screensets as that seems like another good alternative.

Why do you need them open .??. I minimise my plug ins  after I set them and for the most part they never need to be opened again. If they do it's a one click operation.
I put them on my second monitor but they soon are replaced buy more important things like the piano edit screen.

This should be easily solved. Try a different graphics card.
