Can someone explain to me why I can't open up a wave file in sonar?

I export the audio so I can master it and I can't get it back into Sonar.

Did you try "Importing" the file?

Good question John and at the risk of appearing provocative and not intending to be.  Literally you can not open a wave file in Sonar.

i.e. Open file browser, locate wave file right click select open with select cakewalk/SonarPRD.exe.  results in the error message.

"The file you are trying to open is not compatible with this version of SONAR"

Consequently the answer to the OP's question is because you can not open a wave file in SONAR.

But you can import a wave file as I suggested.

Excellent answer Wookiee. When I posted you hadn't posted yet or I didn't see it.  Some how your post came before mine. I was not trying to reply to your answer. The posts are about a minute apart.

No, you are not sounding provocative in any way.

Is't provided in the special *.rtfm file format. Or at least, it should be
