Can us early adopters get a great deal on the next version of Sonar?

Instead of us early adopters paying full price for the Upgrade, how about cutting us a really good deal to start with? For example, half off for the first 10 days only. This will entice the people who aren't willing to upgrade to do so. Plus it's a great way to thank your early adopters, the group of people who buy in early to use and support your software products. It also gives them a promotion and who doesn't like a good promotion?

An upgrade *is* a cut-rate price for the product.

    Define "early adopter."

I started with Pro Audio 9.

Why do so many people have such a twisted, inflated view of their own importance lately? So what if you bought the product before someone else? Buy the product at current market price, or don't - that simple.

It's not unusual for some companies to offer an introductory price for a short term. Every company is different and has different marketing goals. You can always wish for a lower price, but Cakewalk does a pretty good job of delivering good bang for the buck products.

@Brian from Stone House Studios... an early adopter is anyone who buys a product when it's still in its early stages of release - this can either be software or hardware or even technology. These early adopters usually have to face bugs and other problems associated with a new product release. Ever buy a TV and it had lots of issues or needed a new firmware update? Most likely it was in the early phases of its release. Most new products usually do run Promos right off the bat and this even include products by Apple. This is a great way to get consumers to buy their product and buy in early while generating revenue. Cakewalk gave us a really good deal on the Leveling Amplifier when it was initially released (remember the first 1000 customers got it for half off the regular price?). They even extended that promotion because it was doing so well. And when the new version of Sonar hits the shelves and is made available at the Cakewalk store, a promotion similar to the PC4K Leveling Amplifier would not only jump start but sky rocket their X2 sales. They win and us early adopters win.

So what's to stop me from buying cheap and not installing until the upgrades come out?    Then I'm just a deal shopper!

I am completely with Skylightron on this one...

We usually get lambasted with "Buy X1 get...blah blah blah free...

After we've paid up the wazzoo for it....and got nothing free..

AND before everyone goes crazy I know we've had some good deals...

BUT usually the "early bird" in the software game gets (and helps fix) all the bugs...

THEN those who buy "Later" OUR debugged version AND get the FREE update...

It should work like this....If you bought Sonar X1 BEFORE X1a was released you get a FREE upgrade...

NOT those who come to the party late....suck up the "LATE BUYER" cuz we haven't made our quota deals
AND get the next version FREE...

It's a reward for WAITING....NOT for helping the Product get a firm sales figure when it's released...

THIS IS PURE LOGIC.....PURE COMMON SENSE....

Take care of the ones who STARTED the party and PAID the $10 cover charge....NOT the ones who come in LATE to the party...

Believe me I know it's a tough game....but the players who stepped up to the plate and made the Team a winner should get
the MOST PAY...not the player who just joined the team in the 9th inning..

    That's my 2 cents worth...
