However, since the maintenance, clicking on what used to be a link to these forums in my "favorites" brings me directly to the CH. 

My bookmark is still working just fine.  Maybe the forum software just doesn't like you?

I had to make new ones, and the new one's don't have the logo (last bookmark on second pic). 

The last bookmark on the first pic doesn't have a logo either...
 

 
that's because it's the new one. The first pic highlights (big white rectangle with writing in it) the old bookmark, the second highlights the new one. (big white rectangle with writing in it)

I have to get out of this thread now, I feel my lifeforce draining away.

Usually, just including a file called favicon.ico at the top of a domain is enough for most browsers to grab it.  Alternatively, you could include a reference to an icon file in the header area of the html (as Cakewalk does) for the top level like this:

If you check out the source there, you'll also find this little bit of ASCII art as a comment at the top!

I believe that the icons you speak of that appear in the favorites bar quick links are generated FROM the site in question. We the users do not, I believe, have control over them appearing or not appearing.
 
Don't know how you make your tool bar links but I simply drag the URL from the address bar at the top to the favorites bar. The browser does the rest.
 
You can also right-click the link with the icon, go to Properties and change it's URL to the current one.

I also found that you can right-click the link, go to Properties -> Change Icon and pick any icon you want. It will not display right away but should display the next time you open your browser. I'm not sure if a system reboot is necessary or not.

I do the same as you - drag the tab to the bar and it's there, except since the update it isn't any more. The only CW page this now works on is the log in page, the others have no logo. I tried using that one and modfying in properties the page it directs to, which works, but only until I close the browser. Once I open it again the logos are all gone again. Again the log-in page is the only one that this doesn't happen to. I don't have the option to change icon in the properties (FF 32.0.3).

Sounds great, but I have literally no idea what I'm supposed to do with that info ? Yup, in case you hadn't figured it out by now you're talking to someone who knows how to switch the thing on and find the internet and that's about it.

What I mean is ... it's already set, so I don't know why you're not seeing the icon.

OIC. Dunno then. Just the log in page works for me, all the rest ...nada.
 
Oh well, just another of life's little "improvements" that makes things slightly worse I guess. Maybe they hired the guy from microsoft that "improved" their email app.

For the record, my CW Forums link has never had a Cakewalk logo, always the default IE logo. All the rest of my Cakewalk links have the Cakewalk logo.
 
Don't know about FF & Chrome but they both have limited functionality compared to IE, which is why they are sometimes better... less stuff to bog then down with. Although I have Chrome and have noticed that it does not display text very well.
