Can you copy Automation from one project to another?

I've been trying to do this but to no avail. I can select the clip, go to edit, copy special, check the automation box, copy it. But it won't paste in the other project that I want to paste it to. Nothing happens. I did notice that the "clip automation" option is greyed out in the copy special dialog box. Track automation isn't. I'm hoping that this is just user error, and that someone out there can point me in the right direction.

As a test, I was able to copy clip automation and track automation from one project to another using the copy special in the source project and the paste special in the destination project.

Have you confirmed that the track automation events are actually selected when you do the copy special?

How do you make sure they're selected? I've tried all kinds of things. Selected the whole track, switched to automation view, right clicked on the automation. Still nothing comes over to the new project's track. When I do a "cut" special, the automation disappears, so you'd think that it was sitting in the clipboard ready to paste.

The fact that the (I'm assuming track) automation disappears when you cut special, that would indicate that it is selected .  To make sure the automation events are selected along with the track, open the automation lane and then click the small area to the left of the R W buttons. (On the tungsten Theme, it will be a small orange patch when selected)

Are you also pasting special and making sure that the track automation check box is selected?

Also what version and build number of Sonar are you using?

i have never tried this myself. but cant you open both projects, minimize the newer one. go to the older project and..
    1- select the automation lane.
    2-Copy (not cut) the lane.
    3-go to the newer project.
4-paste the data in to the new automation lane.
