Regarding the Spirit/Zep thing..... I believe I recalled hearing that Spirit was the opening act for Zep before Stairway was "written" by the boys of Zep. Of course that negates Page and Plant's assertion that they never heard that lick before.
Read the same thing several times about 'Hotel California' and Jethro Tull's 'We Used To Know', citing that The Eagles supported Tull when they were playing that song in the set and stole the chord sequence. Doesn't quite add up though, 'cos the Hotel California progression was written by Don Felder who wasn't in The Eagles at the time.

Billy Jean-Michael Jackson and Caribbean Queen-Billy Ocean are the same song. The bass line, the keyboard, the guitar licks are all very similar. Which was first? They were released within a year of each other but I forgot who was first. Heck, the titles even rhyme! LOL!

Give me Caribbean Queen any day. Much prefer Billy Ocean's voice. That song is a really nice 80's production as well.

Actually according to Wikipedia Billy Jean was recorded in 1982 and released in 1983 whereas Carribbean Queen was recorded and released in 1984.
