Can you split a stereo input into 2 mono channels

I’m stumped. I have a Presonus Audiobox 44VSL with 4 channels.  However, when I look at the inputs for it in either Home Studio 7 or Sonar Artist, my options are a Left/1, Right/2 (both mono) and a stereo channel 3/4.  I’m trying to mic drums so I’d like 4 mono channels rather than 2 mono and a stereo. Is there a way of separate the 3/4 stereo channel? Presonus’ Studio One has a way you can reassign the stereo channel into two mono channels, but I can’t see any such feature in HS7 or Sonar Artist.

Thanks for any help/suggestions you can offer!

BobF thanks again for the suggestion. However, as I looked it over it addresses splitting a stereo track AFTER it's been recorded. I'm trying to find a way to split the channel from my Presonus 44VSL stereo inputs AS I RECORD.  Studio One appears to give this option--to assign the 4 channels  to either mono or stereo pairs, but I don't see this in HS7. To record drums with 4 mics, I end up with two mono tracks (Left Line to track 1, Right Line to track 2) and two stereo tracks (both track 3 & 4 have to use the Stereo Line). The problem is, tracks 3 & 4 appear to be picking up from mics plugged into channels 1 & 2 (which are assigned to tracks 1 & 2) instead of 3 & 4.  Could it be that the 44VSL doesn't allow 4 discreet mono tracks or is it that HS7 doesn't allow me to change the assignment of channels to achieve 4 mono channels? I'm thoroughly confused!

To record separate mono tracks, in the input selector (in the red box) for the tracks choose one of the 4 channels (numbered in red) coming from the 44VSL. This will result in a mono tracks. They are only shown as part of a stereo pair because that is how the driver presents them to the host.

The 44VSL has 4 separate inputs.

I split stereo (from a Laptop) to two input channels.  I use an adapter cable to split the Left/Right and connect the Left to one channel and the Right to another channel on my recording interface unit.  I then, as shown by scook, set "track 1" for one of the two stereo channels and "track 2" for the other.

Thanks scook. However, I'm not seeing the same input options you are.  I'm limited to Left, Right and Stereo.  I tried to upload a screen cap of what I'm seeing--and then a link to the photo--but can't get it to show here.

Left and right are the mono options. Are you running in ASIO driver mode? In Artist the driver mode is in Preferences > Audio > Playback and Recording.

Maybe that's the issue--I don't think I'm using ASIO but I'm at work so can't check until this evening. I just bought Artist but am still working in HS7 because I've not had time to play with Artist yet. Would the same driver preference option apply to HS7? If not, time to dive into Artist!
