I don't know what parralell you're making between soundcard and interface but it is a USB or ADAT or SPDIF enabled interface. Soundcard? There is no PCI card included.

    ccronium,

are you talking about the v700 or some of Roland's older gear?

    Hello Ccronium,

The VS-700R (the I/O and Fantom VS synth) is the "sound card" for SONAR. Another term we use for sound card is interface, so yes, everything going in and out of SONAR will also go in and out of the VS-700. You can also use it as your default Windows audio device, should you so desire. Also, you can purchase the VS-700R by itself for $1999 USD and it will run on its own without the controller.

    Seth,
so that is the price of the audio interface on its lonesome. Interesting.

Don't forget that it has the Fantom VS built inside, so it is more than just an interface.

Any hope of it eventually being released without the Fantom?

I like Roland synths, but I've always been really meh about the Fantom series, and above that, I don't feel I need it.

    Candlesayhi,

Good to hear you like Roland synths.

There are no plans to release the VS-700R without the Fantom VS at this time.

    It's a good question though!

If the question was can I use the VS-700r as an audio interface for windows applications like media player the answer is ye you can.

German dealers will be receiving their first shipment very soon. I would suggest that you contact Edirol Europe Germany for exact availability.

My Roland D-50 is actually attached to me through a cybernetic implant on my spine. In the event that I lose it, or stop using it, the implant triggers a pulse that kills me painfully and mercilessly.

Well, that's a shame. Guess I'll wait and see what happens. Thanks, though.
