Can't Get Organ Track To Automate

Well into the song project, now I can't get my organ track to respond to live automation.  I LOVE the quick easy way of mixing using the W (Write) button in the Console View.  Normally, it works like a charm...but here I am, having tried numerous times over the last 2 days to automate the volume of the organ track and I can't get it to work.

Any ideas?  Is there a workaround or a simple way of starting from scratch on the mixing for this track?  Or is this some glitch that you can't get around...where, for no apparent reason, a track will get "locked" into whatever automation you've done previously?  Please help.

Thank you.

I know you  probably already have done this but  you have checked to be sure that you have the track "READ" button enabled ? If it is and the automation won't respond, I would probably just copy the clip(s) to a new track. I have seen tracks become corrupt several times over the years.

Thank you for your post 'pianodano'.  I was almost finished mixing a project when one of my plugins went corrupt and crashed my system.  After that I continued mixing for about 30 more minutes, tried automating a track (volume and pan) and it wouldn't work.  Very, very frustrating.  Found that several other tracks also didn't respond to my automation writes... so, following your advice, I created a new track, copied the clip from the effected track in question and was able to continue on without starting the project all over again.  Worked like a champ :)

    Thank you!

hi dave - couple of questions:
are you automating a midi track or a synth output or an audio track?
what version of sonar are you using?
if x2, are you using automation lanes?
and, if midi, is it a simple instrument track or a split track?

    thx,
    swamp
