Can't audition/hear the Groove Quantize effects when using a drum map

Hi, me again, I'm finding in X3 that when I have a midi drum groove that I'd like to quantize, and I have the output on the midi track set to a drum map rather than directly to the drum soft synth (SD2), when I go into Groove Quantize and adjust the settings and then click the audition button I see the Now Time marker playing, but I hear nothing. The only way I can actually hear/audition the quatize effects is if I change the output on said midi track directly to the soft synth that the drum map is routed to (and the drum map *is* correctly routed to the appropriate soft synth). Am I missing something here or is it just not possible to audition the quantize effects on a midi track that is outputed to a map rather than directly to the soft synth? Thanks for any help.
