Can't find some Soft Synths? X1 LE
Reposting in this forum I got my X1 LE Program together with a Samson G-Track microphone, and I've done the tutorial, but it encourages me to load plug-ins that I can't find. In the example below; can't find Dropzone where it tells me it should be. Same for the effect it told me I should use to play with. Why does this happen? Or is the TUTORIAL just written for another version of the program? Just want a quick answer, cheers

You could not have picked a worse time to post. A major release has just happened so there is a lot of energy directed elsewhere. I do not have, nor have I seen an LE copy of a Cakewalk product so my reply is based on what is "normal" for Cakewalk products. The tutorials are generic for a release. IOW, there is one set of tutorials X1. Most Cakewalk installers have an advanced install option. That option will show all the plug-ins available to install. Without seeing a list of included synths, it is the best way I know to check what is included. There is no need to continue the installation once the list of plug-ins is displayed unless there is something you wish to install.

Well I found it frustrating myself reguarding any info on these products, I am looking at purchasing a Roland ( cakewalk) controller that will come with LE, If you follow the "products" link at the top hereand there is a page with bare bones info on X1 LE This is the only glimmer of any info about which VST instruments are included - Premium Cakewalk instruments including Studio Instruments Drums, Cakewalk Sound Center and Square I
So I don't think you get any of those others so you are probably right that the tutorials are for other versions of SonarX1. Look in your VST folders which should be in the root C/Programs/Cakewalk and see if there are dll for the plug ins. There are lots of free downloads if you go to the KVR web site. I think the plan is they toss in the free sample of Sonar so you can get an idea of the software and then upgrade ( spend money) A good DAW will cost you a minimum of $100 these days. They obviously value this version at $10. But try this, Download the Demo of X3 Producer and see if it will share the VST's while activated.

I would think that occasionally using X1LE while running 8.5 most of the time would drive someone nuts. The interfaces are so different and there is practically nothing unique about X1LE other than the interface. I believe X2 demo only includes the Cakewalk Sound Center as it's only synth. The X3 demo will not be released for a while.

It's been maybe the most common problem here on LE forum. The manual tells things that can not be done in LE. The version is so limited that it should get some kind of a short manual of it's own.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Baraklava, The guys are on the money. The totorials are generic, and refer to synths not included with LE. For your purposes, read Cakewalk Sound Center where you see DropZone. Selecting the sounds from within the synth is a little different, but you should be able to get the idea of how to insert and work with softsynths. The process of inserting a softsynth is the same for all of them. The differences, which you will learn, are within the synths themselves. Cactus, you are at somewhat of an advantage, in that any pre-existing 32bit VSTs will be available to X1LE.
My Soundclick Page SONAR Professional, X3eStudio,W7 64bit, AMD Athlon IIx4 2.8Ghz, 4GB RAM, 64bit, AKAI EIE Pro, Nektar Impact LX61,Alesis DM6,Alesis ControlPad,Yamaha MG10/2,Alesis M1Mk2 monitors,Samson Servo300,assorted guitars,Lava Lamp Shimozu-Kushiari or Bob

Don't worry about it. You cannot lock threads. You can mark it answered though or add something like [Solved] to the subject line

And sorry to highjack, but Steve are you saying LE doesn't even look or work like x1 Studio or producer? The only reason I would have installed it was to get my feet wet with the X interface. I have the X1 demo but I never got used to it in the short time it ran. I have nothing against the X series just rather spend my money on hardware first. And that's a good point that all your older VST's seem to hang around. I even got a few nice ones with Wave Lab 7 and Cubase LE. They show in Sonar.

The look of the X series does not change much, except for color in X3. Basic Skylight stuff is the same docking and window management but that is about it. With X2 layers are gone replaced by lanes. Verrry different. X3 reworks lanes again. Zoom and snap are different in X2/3. Then there are the keybinding changes. Take a look at the X3 comp video to see how comping workflow has changed. Assuming comping is something you do. I guess if you want to see what the X series was like a while ago X1LE will do that. X3 is reported to run on Vista (Disclaimer, I run Win7). There is a problem with the VST scanner on Vista being worked right now. So CW still informally supports Vista. The demo is not out for X3. If you are on XP different story. I would d/l the X2 demo. It does run on XP. The demo page was still up the last time I looked, yesterday. I would block out some time for a demo version rather than mess with X1LE. My apologies for the hijack too.
