Can't hear TH2 or AD2 in song
I started a thread a bout a month ago for this issue but wasn't able to keep the line of communication open due to work travel. I have a new computer and I moved everything (SPlat, TH2, AD2, Komplete, etc.) to the new hard drives. For the last month, I've not been able to get tracks that use TH2 or AD2 to play, even though the tracks that have AD2 show meter movement and the line in and out on TH2 show movement. I can add a new track with TH2 just fine, but the existing ones don't make a sound. I can add a new MIDI track with AD2 but it sounds all trebly. I really hoped updating my setup up could end my days of farting around with gear instead of recording music in my sparse free time. 30 days of no production and counting....

I recently switched to a new computer as well. Transfering everything to a new hard drive. I dont know if u did or not, but the copying and pasting or dragging doesnt really work with things like AD2 and some other effects very well. Id recommend downloading the AD2 installer from online again and re installing it like u did on the first computer. I had same issue as u and i did that. my AD2 tracks work perfect now. However, i dont use TH2 really so i cant really say much about it. Im assuming u did a fresh install of Splat from the command center on your new comp? if not id recommend that. Also could be since switching computer/hard drive the directory for that specific track might be wrong maybe. The plugin might still be trying to find the old directory. when you add a new TH2 or AD2 and it works, its probably because it knows the new directory.

Yeah, I changed directories but moved all associated wav files and project files to their new locations and then updated the paths in the Preferences section. I didn't do a fresh install of SPlat, so maybe that's my next stop, especially since I haven't picked up the most recent update yet. Maybe I'll reinstall AD2 and TH2 as well while I'm at it. So frustrating to see the meters move in response to an incoming signal and yet no way yet to get sound out of it. There has to be a fix somewhere; I have a few years of recording into this to start over. Thanks for the response. If anyone has other ideas that could put an end to my hair pulling that would be great. In the mean time, I'll let you know how the reloading turns out over the weekend. Thanks...

Yea I was getting same thing from my older projects, with AD2 the meter was showing but I gotno sound. I installed ad2 from the online installer and works perfect now. I did a complete fresh install of SPLAT and everything works perfect now. I even installed sonar x1 with it to get my v-vocal back for older projects.
Perhaps someone else has a different answer, lemme know how it goes.

Will do - thanks again. BTW - did you do a full UNINSTALL of AD2 first?

Nope. I just went thru the normal installation process from the online installer. Then proceeded to open project like normal. Worked for me anyways. This was about 2 weeks ago. The Th2 I can't really help much, I'd recommend a new splat install on Ur new comp from the command center. Or maybe u can try an update if it'll let u.

forgot to ask you - when you say a "fresh" install of SPlat, does that mean you uninstalled it first?

I'm not sure I follow what's going on here.
When you say you "moved everything" what exactly do you mean by this? Did you install Sonar and plugins on the new PC using their installers?

I moved all of my files (application, project, audio, samples, etc.) to new hard drives. I was essentially trying the "copy your hard drive" method of moving things on to my new machine, but that's probably where things went awry. I did reinstall AD2 a few weeks ago via their installer, but that hasn't fixed the problem with existing songs - I can get it to work in new files, but not old ones. TH2 is just not showing up at all in old tunes, either. Funny thing is, all of my plugins work as standalones; just not in SPlat. I'm downloading the new Command Center now and was going to try reinstalling everything again to see if that works. I'm just perplexed that I see TH2 getting a signal to process but not sending anything to my outputs. same thing with AD2.

yea, thats what i left out, i apologize. I did that same thing, i attempted to copy everything from the old harddrive.. didnt work as planned. I then downloaded CCC on the new hard drive and installed, i never deleted the Sonar program folders that i copied from the old hard drive.

The only thing i can really recommend is just download the CCC then install SPlat. Also reinstall AD2 from the online installer. Thats what seemed to work for me in this similar circumstance. I don't know if anyone else here has any other ideas they can come up with lol

Copying applications from one Windows installation to another rarely works because the new Windows installation won't have the necessary registry entries and probably will be missing other things as well. For example, the hidden by default Program Data and user profile directories contain quite a lot of stuff essential for some applications to run correctly and it's very easy to miss things. Data (projects, pictures, audio etc.) you can just copy and will be fine. Applications (including plugins) need to be freshly installed using their installers otherwise you'll get the kind of problems you're having. This is a function of how Windows works and is not a Sonar problem. You can rebuild a Windows installation from backup images to an extent, but that's quite different to just copying stuff on to a new PC. And I nearly forgot - some things use hardware data like network card MAC address, or motherboard serial number, as part of their licensing system. Just dragging them around to different PCs is exactly what that kind of licensing is intended to prevent.

I reinstalled/updated everything in CCC so all the lights are green but nothing has changed in terms of my ability to actually use SPlat. XLN Installer says everything is up to date. I'm at the end of my rope. Perhaps the nuclear option is all that's left for me: uninstall EVERYTHING and start over. It's been a month and I'm just done with it.

Make sure the XLN installer is pointing to your NEW hard drive (maybe disconnect your old one.) You may need to "unlicense" AD2 on your old one because I think you can only have 2 active installs.

Hi guys - Well, I tried a couple of things and wouldn't you know it - I'm back online. Here's what I did: having looked at a non-working track for WAY too long, I decided to create a new audio track and copy the wav form to the new track. Ta-dah. Once I updated the signal path and added TH2 into the effects mix I was right back in the game. I had to delete any non-working tracks and place the accompanying wav files in new tracks. Next I did the same for AD2. It worked. I guess I just hadn't given it that one final long, blank stare. Any ideas about how this happened? I can only assume it was related to my move to a new machine. By the way, I tried to add my computer to my account at XLN Audio and what a pain that was, let me tell you. No documentation specific to adding a computer to an existing account. Trial and error (and a few colorful phrases) seemed to do the trick. I did end up reinstalling AD2 after all this to ensure I had a clean install with the right registry options in place. Thanks for sticking with me through this - you both introduced a couple of angles that surely helped me track this down to resolution. By the way...in my endless crawling of posts, I found one from a couple of years ago (I think) that was related to latency issues. The solution (which Anderton brought up) was to disable the High Definition Audio Controller. I can't believe hoe much more responsive my keyboard actions and metering are!!!! Just wanted to pass this along. Thanks again. Marc

sweet man i actually was trying to fix that my keys were taking too long to respond to hits lol. Im glad you got it worked out, sometimes it just takes staring at ur screen for hours to let it hit ya what needs to be done. Sometimes transfering computers can frustrating and annoying. Sometimes files just dont seem to like the transfer, thats probably what happened. Somewhere in the computer world it just didn't like it lol. As for the AD2 i never went thru a process i just reinstalled like normal and put in the registration. worked like a charm lol.
