Can't see Reason rewire - 32bit or 64bit

I know 64 bit mode does not work (which I JUST found out - blows my mind). But I also can not see it when running X1 in 32 bit mode. The rewire option is grayed out. If I launch Reason stand alone it works fine. Do I need to set plug in options to scan a certain area? I don't remember having to do anything special in 8.5.

Thanks

rewire apps don't need to be scanned, but if the rewire portion of your reason wasn't installed and added to the windows registry then sonar won't pick up that it has anything that can be rewired and then it will simply leave the rewire option greyed out.

I don't have reason, so I don't know anything about its installation - is there an option to install the rewire agent during installation?

Actually - I don't remember. I think I'll try to reinstall and see if it asks.

    Thanks.

It's working now. Don't know what I did. Rebooted, relaunched and there it was.

    I love a happy ending.

    What with Ableton 8 (32bit) And Sonar X1b (64bit)?
Any chances to make ReWire connection?

I can see in "INPUTS" on audio track: WAVES ReWire....
Very interesting, as I have Waves plugins with WavesRack. But there is no way in Waves to configure it, but using WavesRack as revire device isn't important 4 me... just I was wondering....

NO. Because the Rewire dll is Propellorhead technology and they haven't released a 64 bit dll.

I know Cockos (reaper) have written some code that makes it happen in 64 bit. On the other hand Cakewalk were able to cooperate with Propellorheads to update the REX libraries and write a 64 bit dll which was just finished at the time X1 was released in Dec 2010. So maybe Rewire will be next.

64bit Rewire is a moot point if the slave is still 32bit no?

I'd say complain to both Ableton and Propellerheads to be fair and not just single one of them out...

Meanwhile I'll just continue using a 32bit chain.  Works a treat still.

Thing is when it all goes 64bit I'll want me a new computer....man it never stops...

Hasn't the rewire 64bit issue been addressed in Reason 6?

Belltunes, you're right. At least according to this

About ReWire and 64-bit it says:

"Just as Reason 6 and Reason Essentials, ReWire will be 64-bit too. Note that 64-bit ReWire needs to be implemented in both the slave application (Reason 6, Reason Essentials) and your host. Please contact the manufacturer of your ReWire host of choice for compatibility information."

So hopefully Cakewalk is prepared for this with Sonar and their other software. I've started to miss Reason and have completely ignored it for a long time now because it's been lacking 64-bit rewire. Now, however, Reason looks like it will be a fully featured DAW (minus the VST support) with audio recording and everything and it looks like Record will be discontinued. Weird...

Anyway, when ReWire is 64-bit compatible so will it be for Ableton Live. All rewire applications have lisenced the ReWire protocoll from Propellerhead so this is what all ReWire junkies have been waiting for and I am very happy to see this. I'm guessing that Live 9 will be able to rewire into Sonar.
