Can't select Midi device
HI, Never had this problem with all version of Sonar before this one 8.5 The Midi Device I got is only Delta 1010 but I want to use Microsoft GS Wavetable There is no way to change Delta to Microsoft GS Wavetable! Something I'm missing here? I try Option/midi device but I can't change or add anything Regards!

The MS Wavetable Synth is only available under MME, and sometimes ASIO if your sound card can see it. Just insert TTS-1, and direct your MIDI track outputs to it.

I was working fine on WDM on old version of Sonar. That's weird! I try mme and Asio and now I see my microsoft Wavetable. I need to use TTS-1 as synth but I want to use Microsoft GS for the output. I'm going to try to a new install to see. Thanks!

With all of the great synths (compared to a wavetable synth) available to you in Sonar, why would you prefer a cheap midi system synth? Just wondering? Brian

It's up to you, naturally, but why to use the lowest quality option you have? If it's on purpose to get "retro" sounds, then of course... What do you need the TTS-1 for, if you're not using it's sounds?? Why load it up at all? Usually only SONAR LE users use MS Wavetable, because they don't have TTS-1 or the other synths.

+100 - Don't use the MS GS Wavetable synth... the TTS-1 is much better.

I agree with Daveny5 I use TTS-1 because the sound is much better! I removed Sonar 8.5 and I'm back to 7,2. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with midi output in Sonar 8.5. I'm going to try to fix it later!

TTS-1 doesn't play through the MS Wavetable - it plays through your audio device. Brian

I am having similar problems. When I go to MME drivers, the output on my sound card completely stops for audio and soft synths. I have a Digital Audio Labs card that doesn't have MIDI. It appears that in Sonar 8.5, I no longer have the option to chose the MS GS Wavetable SW as a 'device' . I am forced to configure the Cakewalk soft synths on about 60-80 files. This would be incredibly time consuming. All my old files went from usable in Sonar 6 to unusable in Sonar 8.5, this is a GREAT disappointment. I had the same problem when I moved from Cakewalk 5.0 Cakewalk 9. All the 20-30 files that I had created in Cakewalk 2.0 stopped working. If Cakewalk can't be backward compatible they should at least provide conversion software.

If Cakewalk can't be backward compatible they should at least provide conversion software. That's strange. I'm sorry for the nuisance. Wavetable should work in 8.5 as well, AFAIK. The good side is, that if you change the synths of all your projects, you'll lift your sound quality to a new, better level. Make sure it's your integrated chip that is used when you change to MME drivers to utilize Wavetable. Is that Digital Audio Labs card an integrated one? You don't need any MIDI-connections in the soundcard to use soft synths.
