Can't use ASIO drivers?

Hi, how do I use ASIO drivers with this set up?

Sonar Home Studio 7
Vista 32 bit
Steinberg CI1 USB Audio Interface

I'm sure more information is necessary, but I'm not sure what. If I try to use ASIO drivers it says there are no audio devices for the current driver model. I know I installed ASIO drivers with the disk that came with the audio interface, because it works with the Sequel LE software that came with it. The only driver I can record with is MME (32-bit), but I get dropouts a lot with that. In the past with my ART USB Dual Pre audio interface I also got dropouts with MME, but it worked fine with WASAPI, so I think if I can get this new CI1 to work in ASIO or WASAPI I'll be good to go. Please help!

I had never heard of this device, so I looked it up before replying.  It is ASIO compatible with windows, so it should work.  did you install the latest drivers from steinberg's website or just the drivers that came with the unit in the box?  if you haven't installed the latest drivers, try that.

Thanks for responding. I did download those drivers from that link. Still no go.

I don't know if this info helps, but I plugged My Digitech RP350 guitar effects pedal in, and it would let me use WASAPI driver, but not the ASIO driver. I know that ASIO drivers work with the RP350 in other software too. Really not understanding why I can use the ASIO driver in other software but not in Home Studio 7... Once again, I can't use ASIO, WASAPI or WDM/KS with the Steinberg C1I audio interface in Home Studio 7.  I'm really lost for ideas here. Any ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

change it to ASIO, let it say it can't find drivers for the current model, say OK.  then go to OPTIONS>AUDIO and see what is listed for the PLAYBACK and RECORDING DEVICE(S) - make sure only the steinberg is listed - it might be listing the onboard soundcard or something for one of them.

I did that, and that's part of the problem. When I switch it to ASIO, it doesn't list any devices at all. Not in the General tab or the Driver tab. It only shows up when I select MME driver.

Actually, that isn't entirely true. When I select the WDM/KS driver it shows up as PLAYBACK and RECORDING device, but says that driver is not supported by the device, and obviously doesn't work. But, like I said, when I select ASIO it doesn't even list any devices to use.

then I'm not sure what else to do.  I did notice they had a problem with the drivers for MacOS stating something about "current driver is not compatible..."  - maybe they still have problems with the windows driver as well.

I understand you said it worked with Sequel LE, so it should work with sonar as well.  I'm just not sure what else to try.

you could try calling tech support.

Hey, what did you end up doing? I have a similar issue and I can't access any links from Steinberg. The main page loads, but links like driver downloads, product registration etc all end in 404. the Customer Support Request form, too, incidentally, very useful :|
Anyway, hope you got your issue sorted, tell how if you can :)

The OP has surely solved his problem already, the thread being over one year old.
Is your problem really similar? Same soundcards etc?? If not, you had been better off starting a thread of your own.

Assuming your problem is exactly as that of the OP:
When the only driver that's working is MME it makes me suspect you don't have the CI selected to be used with SONAR. Also that "not compatible with ASIO" message points to the same direction - the integrated soundchip does usually not understand ASIO.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

If an audio interface supports ASIO, you would go the their web site for the latest drivers, not Steinberg's web site.
ASIO does not work for almost all stock computer sound cards.

Hello again, thanks for that, and I did make my own thread actually. I'll go over there and update. But yes, same card, a USB CI1 so not an original soundchip. Anyway, the problem is a bit different now, so I'd better stick to my own thread. Thanks again!

It has to be 64 bit drivers with a 64 bit operating system.
