Cannot Record an audio track
Hi Folks, I just bought a new desktop computer and I have Sonar 3 Producer edition software. I have everything working with the exception of not being able to record audio. Not sure what to do at this point. Don't know if it is a connection, adjustment on the Options-Audio section, Input/Output areas, or how to get this to work at this point. I have tried what the HELP menu indicated but still does not work. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Your best bet for good, productive responses will be to leave as much info as possible. Example: Your soundcard, Windows version, exc. Recording audio takes inputs. Its important to know which ones you might be using.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I will look at everything that was sent and try them! The soundcard is internal and not one that I bought. I bought a Lenovo Ideacentre 510A-15ABR Desktop PC. I also bought a NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 730 Graphics card that I installed (I am working on animation for the songs). I can record Midi with no problem but unable to record the audio track. I have a Korg Kross connected to the monitors and computer. I have the monitors (Edirol) connected to the L/Mono ____R output jacks 1/4 inch via Line In 1 and I have Line In 2 connected to the back of the computer in the green speaker input. I have the usb in the back of the Korg Kross connected (via printer cable) to one of the USB inputs in the computer. I have a shure mic connected to the 8 track Eurorack UB802 and the Line in 1/4 inch cable plugged into the Mic In on the Kross. That's basically all the connections. Settings indicate I have a generic drive for the sound card.

Ok...under "Options - Midi Devices " I have "Kross" under the "Input" and in the "Output" I have "Kross", "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth", and "Microsoft Midi Mapper". When I move the Kross to the top of the output, I can hear and play all the assigned instruments on the Korg and record the Midi but cannot record Audio. When I move the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth to the top of the Output, then I can record audio tracks but only a piano plays and I cannot get the instruments to play (each recorded track only plays piano and not the assigned instruments from the Korg). so I am getting closer but not sure where to go from here...thanks.

Go here: http://www.korg.com/us/products/synthesizers/kross/page_3.phpand download the Korg's USB MIDI Driver. Then under Preferences in SONAR, set the Kross up as your audio interface; plug all microphones, guitars and lines-in into the Kross and then you won't have to use the cheap, inefficient computer sound card, which is always a terrible choice.

Thank Greg! I downloaded the Kross driver but not sure how to set up the audio interface in Sonar. I have Sonar 3 Producer and it's different from the latest versions. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I had the Geek Squad in Best Buy try to install my older sound card M-Audio Audiophile 2496 in the Lenovo and they indicated that it was too old and not compatible with the system. I believe your idea would work but not sure how to set up...sorry

That is quite old software now. Might have compatability issues with Windows 10.
