Cannot open project after AudioSnap
Howdy. I am using Sonar 8.5 and Windows 7. I used Audiosnap on a few guitar tracks to line them up with the Kick Drum, and bounced to clip. I then saved the project. Now when I go to reload the project it hangs up and never loads. Anyway to fix this?? How do I prevent it??

Ok, I have done some experimenting on multiple projects with the same results. After I close a project and try to reopen, I get a Windows Sound (like a message window popping up behind the scenes to tell me something is wrong, but nothing appears not even behind the locked up Sonar Window) and then Sonar just hangs until I eventually ctrl-alt-del and shut it down in task manager. I even tried just splitting a small section of the track creating a small clip to work with, and after rendering and closing and reloading, still no go. I would love to be able to use Audiosnap in my projects, I hope someone can help me here.

Is where you backed it up at. I guess you never back up your projects. Yuo should always back up after each session, because crap happens. Make 3 backups of each project and keep one off site in case of fire/theft. Before you close out sonar, back it up ontop another hard drive. It takes an extra 30 seconds to do that and this way youll always be safe. i hate to lecture, but its for your own good. Having only one copy of a project isnt good practice and at soem time, you will lose it. Thats a fact! OK, Try opening the project while holding down the shift key - this opens it in safe mode Your windows couldbe corrupt, what is the error message? The mor einfo, the better

As far as for the backup advice, by all means don't feel like your lecturing because I'm relatively new to this and I will take all of the lecturing I can get. I have an entire extra HDD just sitting there doing nothing, so I will take up the practice of backing up my projects from now on, thanks for the advice. I tried loading the project in safe mode, still the same situation. I know it is definitely lying at fault with the Audio Snap causing the issue, because I have experimented with it in the last 2 1/2hrs with three different projects (I have been taking a project and saving it over to the other HDD as a dummy project so as not to disturb the original good project). I am selecting a track/clip, pressing Shift+A to open AudioSnap palette on that clip, turning on the Transient Markers, adjusting them as needed, and then Bouncing to Clip. Then I save the project and close it. When I try to reopen it, no good it locks up. I am going to Offline Render with a different algorithm and see if that helps.

I am one of those that cj is talking about... I did not back up... had the next "big hit" (yea right) actually was quite proud of it, needed better mixing though, and months later went back to redo the mix, and well have you ever seen a grown man cry? I now back up on 3 different harddrives I do a cwp, and cwb on all 3 harddrives is some people may consider overkill.. but I sleep easier at night now.

Ok, I am getting this figured out slowly but surely. Now I am atleast getting the error message that I could not see, but hear in the background popping up. It is saying "Transients are in the process of being generated. Depending upon project settings, playback may be different until the process is complete." How do I fix this?? Thanks

Try clearing out your picture cache folder (check your folder settings in options/global). Delete all the files in that baby...

Hi. I may not have the name, or indeed the menu option, exactly right as I'm nowhere near my Sonar at the moment. If you search Sonar Help for 'picture cache folder' you should get a hit and go from there. The default picture cache folder for a WinXP installation is "C:\Cakewalk Projects\Picture Cache\" but I'm not sure if that's the same on Win 7. BTW don't delete the folder ONLY THE CONTENTS... Rgds
