Can’t Get Overloud TH2 to Work in X2 Pro
Everything is routed correctly as far as I can tell. Track signal in Sonar X2….Check TH2 loaded, open, and ready….Check TH2’s virtual input routed correctly….Check The problem is I can’t get the program to engage at all. I’m getting no signal, and nothing is happening. It’s there, but it’s not working for some reason. Any thoughts or suggestions?....What am I missing here? Chris

Okay, I saw the video, but it's about importing user presets. I simply want to plug in and take TH2 for a spin (i.e., explore it's amp and cab simulations). I can't even get it to sound; so......

Hi everyone. I'm still struggling with this problem. Input echo is off. I thought everything was pre setup too, but apparently not. In fact, no matter what effect I load I’m not hearing it. I have my input setup to the Quad Capture. My output is “master.” I have TH2 loaded as an “effect.” The input echo is turned off. I even went so far as to uninstall the 64 bit version of X2 and reinstalling the 32 bit version, thinking this may be the problem, but to no avail. What am I missing here? I have everything else setup as far as my VST plugs…..The Roland TD-4 kit is connected to SD-3 perfectly, as is my MIDI keyboard to all the string and piano apps….Everything seems to be loaded correctly. There has to be something in the settings that I’m missing. Thanks again for your thoughts and assistance. Chris

You want the track's input echo turned ON. If it's off you won't hear a thing.

Yep, if input echo is not lit up, you are not going to hear it.

sorry guys...I should have specified that I've tried it both ways....nothing! Note: i did not have this problem with the LE version, as the effects worked like a charm when patched to a track.....not sure what the problem is, but there is one.....should I install again? Chris

Make sure you have your input trim turned up and you have selected the Hi Z setting on your interface if it has one. There is an input testing feature in TH2 that helps you get your input level set properly so look check that out. Also click the Master button at the top of the TH2 GUI. THose are the global controls that adjust overall levels and that's where you'll find the Gate which is crucial for keeping away unwanted noise. ... That post got eaten by the forum before you posted your reply. Here is a step by step that SHOULD make it work: 1) Plug in the guitar to your interface. Choose the Hi Z (Instrument) setting for the input if it has one. 2) Insert a MONO track into your project. 3) In the mono track go to the Input dropdown and choose the input that the guitar is plugged into. 4) Make sure the tracks output is going to the Master or another bus that eventually leads to the master. 5) Click the track's Input Echo button so it is ON. 6) Turn up the input trim on your interface. You should now hear the dry signal of your guitar. 7) Insert TH2 into the FX bin. Make sure the little blue power button next to the effect is turned on as well as making sure the FX bin isn't being bypassed. 8) Select a TH2 program bank and open the Master section to make sure the volume isn't turned down or anything. At that point you should be in business. If not something is wrong. Sorry to state the more obvious steps but I wanted to be thorough. Cheers.

Okay, I finally managed to get a signal in the global section; so, I can access the tuner, and there’s a solid signal both in and out. Now, the problem is I can’t hear any of the sounds in TH2; so, no matter what changes I make to the settings, there’s no discernible difference. I’m still just hearing the guitar plugged into the interface, but I’m not hearing the effect itself. I’m one step closer but still no dice thus far….will keep plugging and I do appreciate everyone’s help. Thanks, Chris

Make sure you load a program or at least one of the amp modules and that you do not have the FX bin bypassed in Sonar. Also make sure the FX power button for TH2 is turned on in the FX bin.

Oh and is this the full version? If so you may need to open it in standalone first using right click > Run As Administrator. Did you go through the registration process?

I have the version of TH2 that comes with Sonar X2. I assume that's the full version, but I'm not sure. I can't access it directly from my programs to run it in solo mode like I can with Toontracks stuff. I think it was loaded with Sonar X2. Unlike Rapture and Dimension Pro, I was not asked for a registration or serial number. The program just loaded. As for the effects bin being off, I assume you’re referring to the “bypass all audio effects” button in the skylight region. That button is not engaged; so, I don’t believe the effects are being bypassed. Also, the little button next to the fx insert area on the audio track is blue. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get TH2 to work, but thus far I’m coming up short. I’ll keep troubleshooting, but in the meantime, I do appreciate all the help. Chris

Ah... yeah the version that came with X2 is not the full version. You have to pay extra for that. Just wasn't sure if that was the problem. IDK, man... if you followed that step by step I posted it really should be working. You might wanna call support tomorrow to see what's up. Can you see the patches in the program bank? There should be a few different set ups there. Also near the top of the screen are some buttons to toggle through the currently loaded set of sounds. Try clicking around those. Maybe you just have a clean patch loaded. Do you see any heads, cabs, pedals in the TH2 interface? If not try right clicking on the patch cable (or left click... I forget now) and select an amp head to insert. TH2 is a little weird to use so I highly recommend reading the user guide. It should come up if you click on the user interface to make sure it is in focus then press F1. Otherwise look for a help button (I forget if there is one) or just google "TH2 Manual". There is a downloadable PDF version. Good luck and sorry I couldn't help get it working for you..

Had a similar problem after loading the free preset, I'm not sure if you have to hit load sound or not, in the preset page, but what I think finally got it going was the output, not able to check now, but for poops and laughter, try changing outputs in the track, along with Beepsters great instruction, good luck!

Hi everyone, good day, i am using TH3 as a plugin that comes with my SONAR professional, really impressive and very exciting that helps you to widen your ideas. my only concern is, there are times that most of my patches on the program bank are missing, suddenly the effect or preset i am using will be gone, so i started wandering for solutions. if i close the sonar program then open it again, all the patches are again available, then the same thing happens again, so i don't want to have it as a part of the rules to close and open sonar just to get back those patches available. one thing i've noticed is the internet connection, when my internet connection drops off suddenly, those patches will not work but other patches are still available, if the internet comes back with good signal patches are then again ok. i tried disconnecting my internet as a purpose, and yes it is, some of the presets will only depend on internet connection as my conclusion. now can anyone please let me know if this is correct or i am only missing some points, i cannot say it's about installation coz it came up with sonar as a plugin, not unless i have problem installing sonar. or do i need to purchase the full version? or these patches are really relying for online use? thank you so much guys elyjohn
