Can't I pause playback ?

Sorry if this seems simple, I have searched the forums and help contents for the word "pause" and get no satisfaction.
I have recorded some audio and 1 midi track. As I am playing back my project I would like to be able to pause it and tweak a note here and there on the midi track (while in piano view). It seems the only thing I can do is "stop" it, and then it returns to the beginning of the project.
Have I totally missed something along the way?

BTW- Whoever posted about using the TTS-1 to be able to hear the midi through your (non-usb) headphones...thanks, although I now have a latency problem, that's why I want to tweak some midi notes.

Regards,
John

Go to OPTIONS/GLOBAL and check the box where it says 'On stop rewind to now marker', then it will not return to the beginning when you stop, it will just stop at that point.

After you do that..... remember the now marker starts at the songs beginning.....so as you are listening in playback..... click in the time bar near the point you want the marker to be... it moves and the marker is reset to the new point.

    Thanks guys.

Now- onward to the latency problem.

Latency= a good reason to buy a new shiney interface.

I see you have the M-Audio 2496. And the mixer can also connect via USB. How do you have the mixer connected? They both can be sound interfaces, if the mixer is connected by USB. For less latency, you can use the ASIO driver of the 2496, or the ASIO driver of the Xenyx, but MC, or Sonar won't let you use 2 different sound interfaces while in ASIO driver mode. You can use 2 sound interfaces while in WDM driver mode, but there is a tad more latency unless you have the computer tweaked to a high degree of efficiency.

what greg says is right, but the mixer's USB connection is less than optimal, IMO and certainly not nearly as good as the 2496. It will only record 16bit and the 2496 will allow you to record 24bit. I would not even connect the USB interface from the mixer up to the computer - it will only cause you problems. use ASIO driver mode for the 2496. set the hardware buffers in the m-audio software to 256 +/- depending on how stable the system is at that setting.

Actually the first thing I did when I installed the 2496 was un-usb the mixer. I guess when i get a minute I will check the drivers and settings.

    Thanks again guys
