Can't add more soft synth tracks

I don't use this program alot, but sometimes I get the urge to make some music.

I seem to be the only one, but I have always had an issue that I just can't find the answer to:

I record music using soft synth's, but after 5-6 tracks I can't add more soft synth tracks. If I delete one of the existing synth's I can add a new one, but thats it, so I seem to have reached a hardware limit. I thought it was RAM, so I just doubled that, but that made no difference. What is it then ? CPU ? I had the same problem with the old CPU and upgrading seem to have made no difference. Any ideas ? 5 tracks just isn't enough for me.

There is a limit of 8 synths MAX active  at any one time in MC IIRC. You  have likely reached that limit.

you can bounce the synths to track ( convert to audio) and remove the synth thereby freeing up room for another synth.  This is how I work. I don't use many synths active but I prefer to work with audio once the midi is perfect for my goals.

When you bounce to audio, you convert it into an audio track. You can delete the synth or use it for a new midi source track.

Remember, you can have as many midi source tracks (up to 256 tracks) but you can only have 8 of them assigned to an active synth at a time.  The synth rack will only hold 8 synths..... that is the limitation in Music Creator.  The program will support 48 (IIRC) audio tracks so with that combination, you can create some large projects

An option if you don't like the bounce thing is to upgrade to Sonar where the synth limit is much higher.

Thank you so much. I should have asked before I bought more RAM :-)

More RAM is always good as long as the OS can use it.

Definitely, more RAM is good, especially if you are using a lot of synths or samplers.
It looks like Sonar Home Studio 7 or Sonar X1 Essentials may be attractive options for you. They support significantly more synths, and are both less than $100.
I tend to run a lot of synths, and I do hit a hardware limit far below what these programs will support. it manifests itself in a different way though. Rather than not allowing the synths to be installed, the sound starts to crackle. This variable is system specific, and cannot be defined.
X1 is available as a download, but I believe SHS7 is only available as a retail box.

Robert makes a good point. Even if the DAW platform says it has unlimited synths or a huge number of synths that can run in a project, you are still limited by the computer's power and ability to handle them all and successfully "juggle all those balls" at the same time.
