Can't get rid of unwanted plugins - solved

Installed some audio fx vst-plugins. Found that some are never used. Deleted them but Sonar X1 still insists of showing the on the audio fx VST-list. I have rescanned the plugin folders and disable the unwanted plugins but oh no, still there... How do get rid of them?

    It may be that the dll files associated with the plugins are making sonar continue to show them. If there are know and present, try removing them.  You could also search and delete from the registry any residual components left by the vst install porcess.  Good Luck...

    Thanks Luna. Dll-files deleted as well as registry keys and yet...

    Maybe you have more than one copy? I've had that happen inadvertently, after first letting the plug install at its default location and later re-installing it in a different location. Or you may have installed both 32- and 64-bit versions of the same plugin.

    Look in the vst inventory in the registry. That's HKCU\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk VST\Inventory. See if your persistent plugins are listed there. If they are, the FullPath value will show the plugin's location so you can be sure you're deleting the right DLL.


    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Yikes. I had a few cross-up issues like that too. De-installed everything, deleted everything cakewalk left on the hard disk including hidden AppData files. Was on a paranoid bent and so manually cleaned the registry too - not sure if that was really necessary. However, new X64 install worked like a champ!

    Open the Plugin manager, select the plugin you don't want to see and select "Exclude plugin" from the bottom left corner. See screenshot............

    Deleting the registry entries did the trick. Thnx bitflipper!
