Can't get sidechaning to work.
Is anyone having a similar problem? Soinar X1a PE 64, Windows 7 Ultimate 64, MOTU Ultralike mk3, 44100 Hz: I am trying to get sidechaining to work. I tried the Sonitus Compressor and Gate, and ProChannel. Let's assume that I am using the Sonitus Gate. - The Gate works as expected witout sidechaining.
- I add a send to another Track or Bus, and I can select the sidechain input of the Gate. (If I delete the Gate, the send also gets deleted.)
- I know that the send is working. If I change the destination of the send from the sidechain input to e.g. the Master bus, I hear the signal.
- I know that the send and the Gate are communicating. As long as the send is disabled, the input meter of the gate shows the input signal of the same channel. (I can easily tell the signals apart by looking at the meters.) Once I enable the send to the sidechain input, the input meter of the Gate shows NOTHING. I can change the level of the send etc. NOTHING. The signal going through the Gate is not influenced by the signal that I routed to the sidechain input.
- The Sonitus Gate allows you to toggle the output between the output of the gate and the sidechain signal. When I switch to the sidechain signal, I don't hear anything.
What am I doing wrong? I tried to disable the 64 bit engine. No effect. Wilko

Sidechaining Prochannel in X1a Sidechaining other compressors in X1a I also tested the Sonitus Gate and that works the same way. When there's sound on the keying track, the gate kicks in, but remember that it's a gate, so you'll only hear it if your depth and threshold are set correctly.

I have a successful sidechain set up, as I like to use them now and again..I am using the Stillwell Rocket on a Sax being sidechained to a vocal works great... (on this project I have 4 other sidechains working with the 'Rocket') -- I mention this to say I know how to set them up ...however I wanted to sidechain the Bass to the kick and I get nothing? I fussed about tried the Sonitus and nothing?? So I cloned the Sax track and tried to send the kick or several things to it and nothing??? I even tried sending the original vocal to it. Any further thoughts or news?

I use sidechaining all the time with the pro channel 4k, sonitus, the rocket, the glue. I have not had any issues.

Presumably, you want the bass to be reduced when the kick hits. That's just the opposite of what a sidechained gate would normally do, so you need to engage the "Ducking" option. Click the button labeled "Normal" and it switches to "Duck".
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I've been able to sidechain using the sonitus compressor to create bass ducking under the kick as bitflipper has stated.
