Can't record in X1

Using X1 build 185 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. Trying to record a very simple (2 audio track) project through my AKAI Professional interface. All of this has worked successfully in the past. Now, when I click the record button, nothing happens. The cursor never begins moving. Arming the tracks, the program is very slow to respond. Then clicking the main record button, it takes a few seconds to turn red. It's as if the machine is overburdened, but nothing else is running and it seems to have plenty of available resources.

Any help appreciated.

The first thing I would do is update to the current release by applying the c then d updates. http://www.cakewalk.com/S.../product.aspx/SONAR-X1

No doubt that's good advice. I followed it, but no change. Press record and nothing happens.

I agree about getting the updates all the way to 'd'.

When you say this worked before, how long ago? Last week, last month, last year?

Have you changed, adjusted or re-installed anything since then?

Perhaps the sample rates & bit depths?

make sure your punch in module is not engaged to punch in.
this is the only time this has happened to me.
you may have hit the shortcut key by accident.
just look at your punch in record module. see if its engaged.

if not open preferences and check you record preferences.
    look them over closely.

    get back to us.

Nice theory chuckebaby. I have a feeling it's something stupid like that. But alas, that's not it. I've been monkeying with the driver and recording preferences but can't find anything that makes a difference.

Is there a new driver? If not, you might try re-installing your existing driver.

sorry didn't read your whole post, thought you couldn't record at all.

try changing your buffers in QUE from 256 to 512.
that is what speeds up the transport/pre roll.

A few things I can think of that could be possibilities to check

--  How full is your hard drive?
-- Try emptying the Picture Cache incase it hasn't cleaned itself out

Assuming everything outside of X1 has been cleaned up and updated and or disabled  LOL

Run full antivirus and malware scans.

Check the Windows Task Manager and see what else is running that's using CPU cycles. Check how many processes are running? All of those use up resources.
