Cant remove FX from old projects

I have a weird issue whereby some tracks in projects dating back 6-10 years seem to now have their track fx permanently on. For example, a vocal track has a reverb audibly 'on' but the effect is not in the bin, and there is no reverb in any aux.

Anyone else experienced this?

What to do?

    Sounds to me like you may have "applied effects" at some point.

    Thanks FBB - I'd have thought that too, but that's something I never do. 

    Any road, sounds like i'm stuck with it! Redo the tracks or live with it.

    I'd have thought that too, but that's something I never do.



    Try opening the audio file for that track in another WAV player just to make sure that's not the case.


    Also, is it possible your audio interface is applying reverb by onboard DSP?

    You could also load the song in safe mode if you want to disable the offending effects. Then you can choose load/not load every effect in the song. Click shift-open when you load the song to open it in safe mode. This should be the easiest way to get rid of "stuck" effects.

    Sonar X2 Producer. Focusrite Saffire 6, Fender Strat, black PC for recording and mixing. That is all.
