Can't save song... GTP3 crashes

I've never had any problems with Guitar Tracks before... I have a 3.0GHz P4 with 1GB RAM. Today I can't save a file... the PC acts like it's out of memory, and GTP3 crashes. For some unknown reason my CPU seems to be running at a higher capacity than usual (with no programs open).

Has anyone had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks!

The first song I tried to save did the same thing. Lost it all. Had to re-boot and start over, but it worked fine then. And this is a new computer, specked out with plenty of speed, power, and memory to be used just as a DAW. I sure hope this doesn't happen with a really good song I've spent a lot of time on! I think I will try to save songs each time I get a channel recorded. Build it that way, one trak at a time, saving each step of the way. Surely this will work and be much safer.

Are you using a new effect or plug in? Sometimes one of my vst plug ins go crazy and have crashed or prevented me from opening a saved file. I finally narrowed it down to which one and uninstalled it and then reopened the file and it works great. It just says it can't find the plugin. Then I reinstall it and make sure I don't save it in a tweaked out state again.

Try defragmenting your hard drive. That can help.

(If your tunes sound like zeypxun's and you lose them, then it could be a good thing. )

PP, do you stay awake at night trying to think of new ways to be a pest and piss off the world, or does it just come naturally? I've never in my life seen anyone ignore so many reasonable requests to stop all this non-sense and let the rest of us enjoy the forum. You have been absolutely begging to be banned since you got here. Might come soon. Other threads are already talking about it. I support them. It seems your whole purpose here is nothing but to be disruptive.

Open Task Manager. Under the Processes tab, do you see anything running wild? Even though you have no programs running(that you know of) something could be running in the background, eating CPU time.

    MG,

After following Robert's suggestion you can also try to end the process as well. You may want to check into scanning your machine with an antivirus package as well. I had a very unfortunate issue with a virus hitting my computer after transfering a sound file to my machine and its behavior was such that it ate up all my CPU resources.

    Just a thought.
