Can't use ACT to control Sonitus

I have a Korg nanoKONTROL. I have managed to assign things so my tracks and pan pots are controlled. That's easy. But when I switch over to try and teach it how to work with Sonitus, it learns, but doesn't control. Well, it did, and now it does nothing. Previously, I opened up the ACT MIDI Controller properties box, then I would click on the Sonitus window, and all the parameters would change. I was then able to assign them to the right places using MIDI learn, but the controller would still not move anything. But now, I can't even get to that stage! ACT is enabled, but when I click on Sonitus, the parameters do not change like before... I watched a few videos and followed step for step, but no luck..

Not as important, but how do I assign the solo/mute buttons on my controller to the solo/mute in SONAR?

And finally, how do I make the 'scene' selection work.. To cycle through the banks. When I press it, the WAI color doesn't shift as it does on the videos...

This is my first use of control surfaces with SONAR so I'm having trouble working it all out!!! Thanks for any help!

Hi Matt, I too tried to get a control surface working well with Sonar a while back and posted here several times with the same problems - the most common response was, "it's not worth the hassle, ACT doesn't really work". Maybe it's a conspiracy to get us all to buy the VS-700C?

I'll have three fingers of Glenlivet, with a little bit of pepper... and some cheese.

It doesn't really work with VS-700 C either (to control 5th and 6th band of Sonitus EQ for example).

Does the Korg have two ports?
Are both enabled in the midi controller setup screen?

Midi messages for softsynths and fx plugins may be sent on different ports, or different channels within a port.  I am guessing this could be the case, as the APRO300 has separate button for The Sonar screen, softsynths, and Fx plugins.  Whatever is behind those buttons is the key to fixing the problem...maybe.

I have not been able to ACT to much anything at all. It's a very clumsy feature at best.

All I remember is that for ACT to work you have to set up your controller and the settings in Sonar exACTly the way they show you in that video...or the manual, or somewhere on this forum...I don't recall where but even the A-PRO must be set up precisely in order to work flawlessly and effortlessly.

As far as other controllers go I gave up on two others before getting the A pro 300 because I was sure the A Pro would work...and it has.

Remember that there is a difference between MIDI learn and ACT learn. First you need to MIDI learn the controls so that each ACT properties cell knows which control on your controller it is controlled by, then you need to ACT learn that cell so it knows which parameter it is controlling within Sonar/on your synth or whever.

For many controllers the MIDI learn comes pre-programmed as a preset, for others you have to teach it.
