Cat
Lost one of my cats last night. She was a great kitty and was with me for 21 years. I realized that I have to change my signature here now, but I can't do it just yet. John

Sorry to hear that. We've lost 2 in the last 2 years and it's always as painful. In fact, after the first time I lost one ages ago, it took me over 10 years to even think about adopting one again.

That really sucks. This past summer my girlfriend lost her cat of 24 years. Hell, her son is 25. That hurts like hell. It was with her through the good the bad and the ugly. Chipper and spry till the end. Apparently you gave him a great home and he lived a long happy life. Consider yourself lucky to have had a friend like that in your life for as long as you did. Pets are a blessing indeed. My thoughts are with you. Mike

Sorry to hear that. Cats are great. I love their independence...they just do what they want. I lost a lot of cats when I was a kid and I'd be inconsolable for weeks.

Sorry to hear that. I didn't even know they could live that long. At least take peace in knowing he/she lived a very long life.

redbarchetta easy to care for. That's until they reach a certain age, trust me on that one. 3 cats, 3 different diets x 2 meals a day, insulin shots twice every day, blood tests, kidney medicine, and 2 or 3 days don't go by w/o somebody having an issue w/ either end of their digestive tube. They seem to have an allergy to clean floors, I swear. ;) I'm not even mentioning the issues w/ hair - maybe if I had clothes that weren't black... But we love them to bits. :)

Sorry to hear, always sad to lose a love one. I've always had cats and dogs from when I was born. Currently my wife and I have one cat (Bud) he is very smart, smarter than some humans lol. When he was young he could easily turn the lights off/on /off/on and open the kitchen cupboards to raid the food. He could easily jump on top of the fridge and like to rest on top of the kitchen cupboards (way above the bench tops.) He is getting old now (16) and has settled down a lot, can no longer jump on top of the fridge, the cupboards or turn the lights off and on.

Heartbreaking. That is the only word for losing a pet that you have had for so long. ( Or any pet really ) but definitely in this particular case.. Heartbreaking...

Sorry to hear that. At least console yourself that 21 is a good age for a cat, we have one that's 20, we have had her as long as my wife and I have been together. We wonder how much longer she will keep going. It will be a blow when she goes.

Sorry to hear that. 21 years is an amazing length of time to have a cat. The longest we've had one animal was 25 years, but that was a pony.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. We buried her in the yard yesterday and planted a tree on top. Seems to me from my unscientific observation that music people like cats more than the general population does. Probably the independence.... John

Sorry to hear about your cat, we had to have our family cat of 24 years put to sleep last year as his organs had started to give up and was bringing up blood when he was sick. We also had to have the younger family cat put down a few years before as some w***** behind mums and dads let his staffie mauled him so bad the vets said there was nothing they could do. Mum and dad never got another cat after that for years. It annoys me when people just say it's only a cat, but they are part of the family and they all have their own personality's.

That your cat lived 21 years tells me that you cared very much for her and shared a great part of your life. Most people believe that cats do what they want, when they want with whom they chose to do it with. That she decided everyday for 21 years to do her everything with you should be a comforting thought and high praise indeed. From a fellow cat lover, please accept my sympathies.
