Cat standing on hind legs
I grew up on a farm and seen a lot of cats in my day, but saw something yesterday I had never seen before. I have two stray cats. The one is 12 I have had since 2004 that cornered another (about 6 months old) in my garden this year, so I grabbed him. Sort of caught the older one off guard, and he was ticked about this for 4 months. The older one hates guitar, I play and he leaves, goes hides, whatever. The new one is the exact opposite. I play, he comes, sits in front of the amp, and watches the strings very attentively. Yesterday I was playing and he first sat in front of me, but then stood up on his hind legs (to get closer to the strings), and just stood there. Never seen such a thing in my life and was really odd to see, so I had to google it (and of course it is not that uncommon!). Perhaps it was just more surprising to see IRL without knowing it existed, but rather cool.

Beepster The end is nigh...
LOL, damn that picture looks rather menacing! If he did that I would have dropped the guitar and ran! He can barely touch the guitar when I am standing, but he stands straight up with his front legs extended just to touch it. He actually did it again after I posted the OP, so maybe I can get someone to take a picture of him. Then again, he might be Jimi re-incarnated and was just trying to say "You're playing with the wrong hand, fool!" This is a picture I took off him about 5 minutes after I grabbed him (he had a horrible case of ear mites too). I kept him in the pantry the first night to keep the two separated, but he wasn't freaked out at all so now at least he has a home.

I wouldn't get too worried about a kitty anti-x. We had a couple cats in the house when I was a kid and first started playing guit and I've had a few of the buggers lingering around in various environments since then. I've seen the "on haunches" behavior whilst I'm noodling away. It's the finger action. It stirs up their "ZOMG!! PREY!!" instinct. Like squirells or birds or whatevs (as opposed to ground prey like mice that makes them spazz out on the floor). The one that used to annoy me was the "PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEEE!!!" crap while I was trying to play. Yanno... kitties jumping up on your lap while you're trying to play and rubbing themselves on your hands/guit strings... and of course taking a few swats at your fingers flapping around. Friggin' cats. So cute... yet annoyingly needy. Of course when you WANT to give them attention they flash their little pucker holes at you and wander off.
