CbB: Multiple PRVs not retaining settings
Most of my projects (created in Sonar) contain several instances of PRV docked in the undocked Multidock, each displaying a different single softsynth or otherwise some combination of midi tracks. I also have a separate screenset dovoted to drums with a PRV displaying the drum pane. This makes it easy to quick switch back and forth between editing different softsynths. With a single click I can resume editing drums and with no more that two clicks I can go to edit any other softsynth.
But this doesn't seem to work in CbB. Whenever I switch to another screenset and back again, the PRVs all become reset. Apparently they all revert to the settings of whichever one was last viewed. So having multiple instances become pointless as they are all identical. Sometimes they all display the drum pane when the drum pane is not appropriate. It's a mess.
I hope this gets fixed soon. Meanwhile I'm sticking with Platinum.

I rarely ever lock screensets, but I always lock the contents of each multidocked tab. I've now lust tried locking the screensets. I didn't seem to make any difference, i.e. it didn't prevent the PRVs from resetting.

I'm just curious; is no one else having this problem? Because I'm not at my daw now but I recall something like this happening for me in CbB too.

I work the same way Kev999. I have never used Screensets. When working in X3 Producer I would have separate PRV tab at the bottom for drums softsynth, bass softsynth, keys softsynth , etc. all with separate tabs to click on and edit at will. I can't get CbB to work the old way I liked either!! It was a major part of my workflow!! BUMMER !!! Maybe I am doing something wrong ??

Maybe not. I suspect that the programmer who developed the revamped PRV filtering feature overlooked the fact that there can be more than one instance of PRV in a project and therefore only allowed one single set of settings to be saved.

Apparently multiple instances of Staff View work OK. It's only Piano Roll View that has the problem.

I hate to be a bad news bear but this is not a bug. They changed the way the PRV works several months before the end of SONAR. The new method is to select tracks from the Track Pane. Saving a project or even changing screensets with multiple open PRV's will always result in the same track being displayed in all of them as you have found. There are benefits to the new way and I have gotten somewhat accustomed to it, but IMHO, asking for the return of multiple locked PRV's would be a valid feature request.

I would probably still class it as a bug. The way it works now looks nonsensical. Try it yourself before you dismiss it.

I have tried it. I dismiss it because it doesn't work anymore. I only say it is not a bug because the (Bakers?) clearly don't want us to use multiple PRV's. They want us to select and filter tracks in the PRV track pane. That is just the way it works now. Don't forget about the inline PRV. Some of the workflow you are looking for might be found there.

It's not only about multiple docked instances, it's also about screensets. Different filter settings in each screenset for Track View, Console View, or any other view don't reset when switching between screensets. PRV shouldn't reset either. It's unlikely that this was deliberate. More likely an oversight.

After setting up every PRV screenset, lock it. Screensets and PRV was worked on right before Sonar closed doors. but in my opinion it was made better.

Locking the screensets doesn't preserve the PRV filtering. It doesn't even lock in the drum pane.

Sorry. It does here. I created all different PRV settings in each screenset, than I locked the screensets each one at a time. after close and restart each one has preserved its settings including the drum pane.

I can't make that work. If I close and reopen a project, all of the PRV's in each locked screenset are displaying the last track I viewed before closing the project.

Aside from the PRV issues, it is not normally necessary to lock a screenset, assuming that you want it to remain in the state in which it was last viewed. The only reason to lock one is for making temporary changes and having it revert back to the so-called "locked" state afterwards.

I find that I need to lock all screensets if I want my multiple PRV (Multiple PRV in all of those screensets) to be as I left them, and it works. BUT ... I'm using the version of SPLAT right before the new PRV was introduced.
The new PRV was the deal breaker for me for moving forward.

Strange, but I don't lock screensets and the settings are always retained (in Platinum 2016.11).

I'm using 2017.01 It's just very subtle things like PRV snap Settings that don't get saved if I don't lock the screensets.

Saving a project before closing it should retain current screenset settings. However, splat retains a couple of screenset bugs that never got fixed.
