Chacha, piano voice version of earlier song

Hi dear forum people,

This is another version of an earlier song I recorded, but this version is with chacha rythms and mostly piano improv accomp, and little organ.

Played/sang/recorded at once with Sonar LE.

I'd appreciate critique as usual, and glad if you happen to like some things about it.

Thanks!

Sounds really good.  I like the vocals - the reverb on the vocals are on the heavy side. The voice sounds great, but the reverb is taking away a little.  Nice job.

Hi Guitartrek, and thank you for your evaluation and encouragement.

I will check and see about correcting the vocals. I seem to remember I wasn't quite OK with the resonance either, being rather new on recording , effects, and editing; learning mostly from advice and posts in this forum.

    Thanks again!

    Hi again good people,

I have re-done the Mix, effects, and Vox reverberation (a per Guitar Trek's most valid comments).

I did find some wrong setting in my system, and have corrected that too.

I think (hope) it is somewhat better, and would appreciate some feedback.

    Thanks a lot!

    Great song.

I think you could still back off on the verb on the vox a little bit.  And while I love to hear the vox nice and clearly, they almost seem a little too loud here.  I was struggling to hear the accompaniment in some places.

    Great piano playing!

    Thanks Janet.

I appreciate your suggestions..After hearing it again, I agree that the voice needs to be lowered, and I still have trouble finding the right effects for voice...These things are not too easy for me to determine. There are countless ways and ways take time and impartiality. With no experience in this technologies/art,  I am most grateful for people that point these things out.

I enjoy many songs posted by you all, also as a learning process, more than as a critic, for I do lack that capability too, so most often I make no comments, even though I hear great recordings from members of this forum. The great performances and efforts of you all is very encouraging to me.

    Well, dear people,

As per Janet's good observations, I did go ahead and:

    1. Up'ed the backing music up  and leveled the vocals.

    2. Made the vocals as clear as I could, without re-recording, and lowered reverberation.

    3. Beefed up the Drums and percussions.

I hope it is a little better, and whoever can check me on this, I would very much appreciate .

To say that you have a unique sound is to make an understatement.....

    Very cool stuff.....

On the mix..... the reverb is totally wrong. It needs to be dialed back to a small room with short delay times. I don't know if the vox is too loud or not... the reverb is throwing all that off.

The music doesn't have the same reverb that the voice has...... and that makes it sound unnatural. The huge cavern reverb is totally out of character for Latin music.

    Thanks Guitarhacker,

I will look into the reverberation aspect of these things with more care hoping to come up with something that is more balanced.

That aspect of reverberation and getting things to be balanced, and even, is giving me a hard time..That would be a daily confession of mine since I have been trying to learn of mixing an integrated song.

I may be asking some more specific questions in the techniques forums, after I do my homework.

I appreciate the time afforded to help very much.

    Hi good people, again.

I have revised the song as suggested by Guitar Hacker, and done some things that I believe have resulted in:

    1. Clearer vocals

    2. Improved overall sound quality.

    3. Did some tricks with the drums and I believe the quality and the rhythms are much better.

All done without re-recording or playing anything again, or over.

The same files were used, just all techniques I have been reading about from you all, and the guidance from the comments afforded.

I hope there are improvements and thank already all who might wish to check it out.
