Chainsaws today....
The other day, all that wind blowing through the town brought a fairly large tree down in my neighbor's yard. Today, we cut it up and drag it to the curb for the trash trucks this week. Earplugs, safety glasses, steel toe boots, and gloves..... and some manly grunting as I fire that bad boy up! Oh, oh, oh..... Wood chips and fumes...... can't wait.

OK... got the job done.... cut up the tree back to the ditch.... then went to my rental house and trimmed bushes, raked and bagged leaves (9 huge bags full) , and started cutting back the sticker vines and azalea bushes along the fence/ditch.... I haven't done that for about 5 years or better.... it was really over grown. I stopped trimming the vines off the fence when I discovered 2 bird nests in the vines..... gotta let them fly away first...so in a few weeks I'll have a look at it..... Now.... time for a Sam Adams on the back deck while I watch the steaks on the grill........ mmmmmmmmm....

I have 3 smaller trees (8" around?) I want to take out so I don't have to keep dodging them with the pickup while getting around the garden. But now that we have enough firewood for 3 years, I don't really know what to do with the wood. I guess I could leave it by the road and say, 'here, take it!' Or I guess I could try selling it. Although that seems a little like trying to sell snow to an Eskimo around here.... But I did week-whack the orchard and cut off some very small stumps so I'll quit tripping on them and getting the hose wrapped around them...planted some more altheas for a hedge below the driveway (so less toys will roll down the driveway), built a simple compost 'pile' out of used cement blocks, raked the back yard of the rental house, and sprayed whatever poison ivy I could find. And something else. Ran out of work at 2:00, then youngest son and oldest grandson came to visit. Now to the studio...maybe. :) Oh, and just paid more taxes. I had no idea that when you apply for a first-time home-owners credit ($8000 I think), that you'd be paying that back for the next 15 years. Oh well....

Had one we found under my deck when it was being pressure washed. We worked around the nest, and saved it. Shoot, spiders get a free ride out of the house, via plastic cup. Mosquitos and flies, not so fast...

Janet Oh, and just paid more taxes. I had no idea that when you apply for a first-time home-owners credit ($8000 I think), that you'd be paying that back for the next 15 years. Oh well.... I wonder how many people knew that when they applied for and got that credit...... ...............and the government says......."Gottcha! " the bad thing about that was the people who used that credit to buy a house they could hardly afford..... with an adjustable rate loan.... Now they find themselves having to pay it back and what happens when the rates go up? Like most money owed to the government, it is NOT dismissible in a bankruptcy, along with taxes (it is a tax credit being paid back) and student loans.

mmmmm...I had to take two trees apart a few days ago..both 60' tall..both torn out of the ground by their roots in high winds...now I have more firewood and about 120' linear of hardwoods to play with....

Herb, yes, fortunately it won't kill us to pay it back. Just wish it would have been more clear in the beginning. Oh well. Barry, that sounds fun. That's a lot of hardwood to play with. :)
