Change Default in Browser for VST Instruments
When I open the browser the default is always folders with "VST2" "VST3" and one other (I forget the name). I've created my own Instrument plug-in menu, which I can pretty easily reach by clicking on the drop-down list, but the "VST2", etc. one says "Default" next to it, and I can't seem to find a way to change the default. Interestingly, I don't have this problem with my customized FX list in the browser. I just know it's going to be something simple I overlooked! Thanks in advance, Steve

I did a brief search for this exact same thing and didn't delve too deeply into it. AFAICT, here is what I found - There is a file called "default.pgl.tmp" in the location "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\Plug-in Menu Layouts" - this seems to be the file containing the default layout, but here is the rub... That file is created dynamically on startup, so: - Deleting it makes SONAR simply recreate it on launch.
- Altering it and replacing it, and SONAR overwrites it on launch.
- Altering it and locking it, and SONAR kills itself deader than a rock on launch (insta-crash).
I began to track down the actual "source" of this default.pgl.tmp, but stopped shortly into it as things should not be that difficult. The simplest solution would be if that file could be edited and locked by the user, but that is a no-go due to the "insta-crash" scenario. Only option available is to create a user layout and use that one. [Edited for typos]

FWIW, this SHOULD be a simple process of rt clicking a particular layout and clicking "MAKE THIS MY DEFAULT....."

Vastman FWIW, this SHOULD be a simple process of rt clicking a particular layout and clicking "MAKE THIS MY DEFAULT....." That's exactly right. What makes this even odder is that Sonar recognizes customized menus for effects as defaults.
