Change audio effect to soft synth, problem in 8.5

Hi,

I bought the Ozone Stutter Edit yesterday. According to the instructions that came with it, I changed the plug to be configured as a synth in the plug-in manager. It was still an audio effect. So I looked in the registry and changed isSynth from 0 to 1. It is still an audio effect. What more can I do? Are there other registry parameters that I should change? Should I rename the dll to see what happens? Should I reinstall it?

Thanks.

From the effect's properties page, click the VST button at the top, select Plug-In properties, then select Configure as Synth.

I wouldn't go fiddling around inside the Registry unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing.

    Just my thoughts.

I ran into this when installing the same plug.  I have 32 bit and 64 bit Sonar on my machine.  The 32 bit scanned fine as was able to configured as a soft synth using the Cakewalk plugin manager.  No matter what I did, the 64 bit Stutter Edit kept coming up as an audio effect.

I did venture into RegEdit, and did the uninstall / re-install thing.  That was probably unnecessary.

What fixed it for me was deleting the 32 bit VST path in Sonar 64 under the VST Tab in Global Options and then rescanning.  I rescanned the 64 bit path, then configured the 64 bit Stutter Edit as a soft synth and it did show up as such.

I then added the 32 bit path back in on Global Options, rescanned the 32 bit plugs, and all was good.

pfl, your a superhero. Thanks for a very lucid reply. I tried it and it know shows up as a soft synth, as you said. Thanks a bunch.

Managed to do that. Now here is the tricky part: how to enable midi automation now? does not work for me.
