Change plugin folder/names
Hello all, A 2 part question here.... 1st I have a couple plugins that show up in 2 different places. Both are a soft synth. When inserting the synth, I have the option of hover over "soft synths", which opens the next window where I can go to the bottom and hover over "vstplugins" which will then open my vst synths. From here, all options open and work just fine. Now, going through that same process, the window opens and - before going to "vstplugins", they are also listed in this main window. Some of you may have more dividers than I do but...here is a quick look at mine the soft synth window that opens has "plugin layouts" in the 1st section, the next section/divider has the cakewalk TTS-1 (and more) in it, and the 3rd section has Beatscape (and more) in it (as well as the "vstplugins" mentioned above). Still with me? In this 2nd/middle section (where TTS-1 is located), I have some soft synths listed that are also listed in the bottom section where vstplugins are listed. However, when I click on the ones in this middle section, they do not work. A box opens and says that I am missing a plugin or it is not installed properly. Since they work just fine in the other section....how can I remove them from this list?? They are not listed in the plugin manager so I am unable to remove/hide/exclude them in the manager. What are my options? Ok, part 2. Instead of using the plugin manager and making custom layouts...hiow can I change the default manger? Can I just move .dll files in the cakewalk plugin folder and make my own folders and put stuff in it? Can I arrange folders and names to show up in the main window before going to "vst"?? How do I make the default plugin window....custom? Thank you for any help.

Now, going through that same process, the window opens and - before going to "vstplugins", they are also listed in this main window. Some of you may have more dividers than I do but...here is a quick look at mine the soft synth window that opens has "plugin layouts" in th The section with TTS-1 are DXis These will be mostly older instruments that were bundled with SONAR. If you use SONAR x64, only x64 DXis will load properly. The ones that don't load may be x86 (32-bit) DXis that shouldn't be there, or they may just need to have SONAR run As Administrator in Win7. The lower group are VSTi plugins. They can be both x86 and x64. SONAR can bridge the x86 ones automatically. The Vstiplugins group will all be x86 plugins. It's possible to have x64 DXi, x86 VSTi and x64 VSTi versions of the same plugin showing up, depending on the history of your system. You can control what shows up and where by going to Tools > Plugin Manager. There you can look at all the different groups of plugins, see what DLL files they use and where they're located (which will help determine which are x86 and which are x64), and "Exclude" the ones that you don't want to see. You can also create custom plugin layouts that organize them in different groupings or show only a subset that you use most often or for certain types of compositions. Plug-in management in an x64 environment can get a little complicated, but this should get you started. EDIT: Overlooked your part 2. I see you already found your way to the Plugin Manager. There have been a number of threads about plugin management strategies. The one below may not be the best, but it does address some of your questions. You can Google keywords with site:forum.cakewalk.com to find more: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2386683

Hey thanks, I am just happy someone actually responded. I pretty much have all that figured out, I just cannot get stuff removed. I have also learned that yes, I can pretty much do anything I want in the plugin folder and do not need to waste with the plugin manager. I can see how some of you may like setting up different names for different projects or items you are working on. But for me, it is kinda pointless. I want the "default" manager set up how i like it. I do not have any need to take the time to keep switching, or remember to switch, the plugin manager. I went in and moved the files, made folders, made subfolders and on and on. This way, I have everything my little heart desires as the "default" manager. So that part is solved. I was just worried it may mess things up. I figured hey, this is windows. I should be able to do what I want in the folders. Sure enough, everything worked just as I had hoped. But the other part is still a mystery. I cannot for the life of me get these plugins removed from that section. Its not a big deal I guess, just dont click on them right? I recently bought PT9 and have been messing around and learning. There are several things that are awesome but one, is that effects layout. Everything is right where it needs to be. The way it puts a reverb in "Reverb" etc. Just digging the heck out of the program. But anyway. I said ya know, let me see if I can get X1 to do the same. So this is what started it. (please, no one start with how pro tools sucks or how everyone should switch because pro tools is great. Who cares. Use what you like, I just mentioned it for what I was trying to setup) So this part is working, I am starting to get that all nice in pretty...my way. Lol And like I said, I guess I will just leave the other alone and move on. Thanks for the input.

I cannot for the life of me get these plugins removed from that section. You might need to do two things: 1. Get the DLLs completely out of the scan path(s) by moving or deleting them. 2. Search the Windows Registry for the exact DLL names and remove registration entries and other references. Just keep track of what you do in case something breaks unexpectedly.
