Changed Piano Roll behaviour issues
I have recently upgraded from X3 to the latest Platinum version. The Piano Roll has several behavioural changes that I wish were the way they used to be. I’m posting in the hope that there is an option somewhere in sonar to choose the old way:
First one: in Piano Roll, I used to be able to edit midi notes even if I was in the view that was active with a CC#—like CC#1 Modwheel, or CC#64 Footpedal. I typically use the view that does not show the CCs in a separate section at the bottom of main screen (“Hide Controller Pane”). Now I find that if I have, for example, my CC#64 footpedal active on the main screen I can no longer edit the midi notes; for that I have to click the tab (I don’t know the name of this tab; it is near top left corner of the piano roll, just above the keyboard graphic) and then click the “Notes/Velocity” choice. In other words, when the main screen becomes active with a particular CC, editing becomes exclusive to that CC. This also means that if, for example, I want to shift a note in a piano part and also shift the CC#64 pedal up/down command along with the note, I can’t do it by lasso-selecting both and click-dragging—as the note won’t respond, it won’t drag. I used to be able to do this.
Second one: For years I have been quickly going from Track view to Piano Roll view by double-clicking a clip. I used to get full screen Piano Roll view when I did that, now I get the shrunk down partial view (I never work with half-screen views, there’s not enough information displayed for me, I always work in one full page at a time). The Piano Roll view is properly docked, and even if I manually full size it (Shift+D), the next time I double-click a clip it gives me the partial bottom of page view again! Is there an option to change this behaviour to full Piano Roll?
