Changing Bit Rate Session in Sonar X2 !

Hi everyone,
Sorry If this is a very general and silly question, but I really need to make it clear for my recording session !

Ok, my plan is recording my vocal only by the beat/ instrumental track I had. So there are only two tracks : First one is the Beat , and second one is the vocals.

Til now I do not get the recording bit rate which is the 16, 24, and 32 bit. or the 41000 ...... can you help me answer that what bit rate do I need in my recording situation ? And how to change the recording bit rate in sonar X2 ! Currently I see the 44.1 and 16 in my control bar. How to I change that ? Please help ! thanks so much in advance !

Here is a short video clip that explains both terms in music.

I record in 24-bit depth.  CD's are 16-bit, so when I mix down it is to 16-bit for burning to a CD.

I also record using ASIO drivers for my interface, and set the Sample Rate for the audio interface to 44.1, and the ASIO buffer size to 64.  This is a good combination for me - I use a Presonus Audiobox 1818 VSL audio interface.

Your interface may or may not need an ASIO buffer size to be larger.  The basic idea is to start with something that works - where you do not have audio dropouts and crackles and stuff, so perhaps start with an ASIO buffer of 256.  This will produce a high latency, but at least there are no dropouts.  So, after you have a setting that works, even though it is a high latency result, you can start dropping the ASIO buffer size, say from 256 to 128, check for dropouts.  If no dropouts, try to drop the ASIO buffer size to 64.  If still no dropouts then you are probably good to go.  If there ARE dropouts, then you have to change the ASIO buffer size back up to the next level (128).

All of the above changes are made in the UI of your audio interface - the ASIO Control Panel.  Some audio interfaces have their own little program for making these changes, and other audio interfaces require you access the ASIO Control Panel from within your Host Recording Program (Sonar).

One more thing, the Sample Rate in SONAR must match the Sample Rate you have specified for your audio interface.  You will find the Sample Rate in Sonar in Preferences>Audio>Driver Settings.

I hope the above helps you to understand,
