Changing Keys with Virtual Instruments

I just started fooling around with cakewalks virtual intruments and have a silly question...

OK - using SI-Bass - I like the groove chosen so I drag it over to my track - cool - I got that line on my track. Now - lets say I want to repeat that same bass line again in the same track, except this time on the 4 and then the 5 so a typical 1-4-5 pattern... Do I have to create a whole new bass track for each key change? I try changing it in the si-bass window and in the midi-piano roll view and it changes it but also changes the key of the 1 that I already laid down. Does that make sense?

So bottom line is it looks like I can get some pretty cool lines out of si-bass, but am I stuck with just 1 key per track? That seems way odd.

Thanks.

I'm using Sonar 6 SE, but it seems to me like you can just highlight the track you want to change the pitch on and click "Process" from the toolbar and then choose transpose and enter the value. If it still changes the pitch on other tracks besides the one highlighted try inserting an additional instance of the software synth (SI-BASS) This second instance will be completely detatched from the first and changes made to one will not affect the other. Hope this helps....

Do not use pitchbend. Completely wrong tool for the job. You should be able to transpose the pitch of your MIDI data in whatever sequencer you are using. So, for example, if you had "C" for 4 bars and then wanted "F", you would transpose the "C"s from bar 5 on up 7 (half) steps.
