Changing modules in Rapture while recording

Hi all,

I was recording a track using Rapture-I forget which program, but I wanted to use one module for one measure and then add the second module for the next measure and so on (switching the 2nd module off/on). I did this while recording and it sounded great. When I played back the track after freezing only the first module was captured.  Any clues on how to do this?

TIA,

Rapture isn't really made to work that way. You should use a separate instance of Rapture for each different sound you want to use in your project.

How are you "switching the 2nd module on/off" during recording (by which I presume you mean recording MIDI from your controller)?

The way I would probably do it to record separate MIDI/Instrument tracks for each "module" (a.k.a. soft synth instance) one at a time (or maybe record one track and copy the MIDI to the second track, if they are the same part), and then mute or delete selected measures of each track to get the alternating/combined voices.

For example, I have a sequence program open,  "Italo", I play a C4, and I want to toggle module E5 on and off.  To add another instance of Rapture to do this in a quick tempo would be very painstaking. I guess I could record two complete separate tracks, one with it on and one with it off and then split one track repeatedly, muting it where needed but that would be very time-consuming.

I am simply clicking the module on/off button with my mouse while recording.  I guess this would only work if I were somehow recording it as an audio track?

You could record midi like you have and then switch elements "live" while you were recording the audio.  Seems like the easiest way to do it under self-imposed restraints.

Hi AT, I'm not sure what you mean, sorry! Can you explain how to do this?
    Thanks,
