Changing the sample rate for an existing project

Can anyone please instruct me on how to change the sample rate for an existing project? I know I can change the sample rate for a "new" project in the preferences, but cannot find any help documentation on how to change the sample rate when a project has already been created e.g. 96KHz down to 48KHz (or) 48KHz up to 96KHz etc. I don't want to 're-build' my tracks, buses, or layout just because I want to change the sample rate. I know this is easily accomplished in Cubase Pro. Any suggestions are as usual appreciated.

Isn't there an option in the "Save As" dialog box to change sample rate?

I'm not 100% sure on this, never having needed to do this before (and I'm miles away from my DAW) but have a look.

If your tracks were recorded at one samplerate and you change all your settings to another (say from 48 to 96 or vice versa) your audio will not play back correctly. The waves need to be converted to the new samplerate.

So there will be a conversion that needs to happen.

But for me I generally change my samplerate directly from my interface software (Scarlett Mixcontrol). That would normally be accessible from your Sonar Preferences menu via the ASIO Control Panel button but I just open Mixcontrol directly (my ASIO control panel button doesn't work properly).

That may or may not help you but might point you in the right direction to do what you want.

    Cheers.

Solved. I had to save my project as a "Template" in the templates folder (without deleting any audio clips!). I then started a 'new' project (with a new project name) using the just saved template but setting the new sample rate to what I needed e.g. 96KHz to 48KHz etc. Then after opening the newly created project I deleted all audio clips and then saved it again to the same "Templates" folder as previously in order to be able to use this new template at the new sample rate for future projects. Seems like a long solution, but it worked. This allowed me to keep all my tracks, buses, project views, etc. without having to re-build my project from scratch. Sure hope Cakewalk makes this task easier in a future update. They need to see how Cubase Pro handles this (much easier and quicker).

Hello - On this theme, I realize I cannot open a project with another sample rate (although being able to browse media and play it is annoying) I user Sonar Platinum
My Old Card from way back was set to 44k I am now using 48k - not quite sure why I chose this - but that's another story!
I am not organised by having Having Project folders containing all the  audio - I tend to use the 1 folder. - is there any method of identifying the files - and then being able select them - I can see files via the Project audio file viewer. I want to save the audio
files in a new folder and import them.

Secondly - is there a method to somehow display files by sample rate??

There is also the way to convert all audiofiles from the audiofolder "outside" of SONAR.
When opening the project SONAR has no problem with the new samplerate.

We digitize tapes, vinyl, dat, md ... in broadcast and studio quality for publishers, public institutions and individuals.

You should have started a new thread.

But what you do is open the project and then "save as" to a new location, make a new folder, and use the "Copy audio " so now your project is in one folder and the audio that is needed too.

You can use any wave editor to change audio wave files to different rates.

Sorry for the necro-bump but how do you convert the sample rate of audio files outside of Sonar? What does this do to sound quality?

I am working on a project, the vocal tracks sent to me are 44.1 but I work in 48 because my Fractal Axe FX II requires 48k.

When I imported the file, I could never get it to synch until I opened a project in 44.1. I’d rather work in 44.1 but my AF2 requires 48k.
