Channel Tools and Stereo Pannig

I have Home Studio 7.  Is the Channel Tools plug-in available to me so I can properly manage the panning of a stereo-recorded track?

Does this mean I should not record stereo guitar tracks if I plan to have more than one?  In other words, I should send the signal from the Rode Stereo mic to independent mono channels?

And what do I do about already recorded material.  Can I split a stereo track into two mono tracks?

    hi Steve,
you can split the tracks into mono tracks.  the way you're recording - using the stereo mic to record your vocals and guitar at the same time, it might be better to set it to record them as independent channels instead of a stereo channel.

panning for a stereo track in the stereo field doesn't mean the same thing as panning a mono track in the stereo field (as you have discovered).
