Channel Tools

I have never used it, but saw it do it's magic on the Groove3 "Mixing with Sonar X1" video (p.s. thanks again Cakewalk). Where can I see help text or general info about it. It looks pretty straightforward, but I'd like to get the in & outs of it.
Anyone using it? Or is it a "walk on by" thingy?

Very useful tool. The help for the plugins is supposed to show when you hit F1 with the plugin in focus. If that does not work (and it does not for me in X2a), the help for the Channel Tools plugins is in either "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Channel Tools" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Channel Tools" depending on your installation.

I use and like it.

It has many places for me.

Like anything else Im lost on, I make huge changes to see what it is about when messing with it

I don't like it. I used to use it but on all the final mixes, the tracks just didn't sound right. If I want to make this kind of effect, I record two tracks seperately for each side. IMO, it sounds much better.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

I use it all the time on Stereo tracks - it lets you place your tracks wherever you want in the Stereo field, and it does M/S as well.

This plug in is useful for a number of things. One thing I have done is put an Oscilloscope after the channel tools plugin. I have used the scope to give me a stereo reference and widen the stereo mix. This works well. I also have used channel tools to reverse polarity/ switch phase on the bus strips. check out the meter below. It is a free vst. there are others out there as well.

when ever i am losing an instrument in the stereo spectrumn (sometimes with frequencys being to close) i use channel tools to push it out and in the face. one of the best plug ins in my opinion.its a hidden gem.

Wow-I like finding hidden gems. -what about the delay feature is it useful? it looks kind of minimal to me-almost to a fault, or is it supposed to be a one trick pony.

For me, it is by far the most-used of the bundled plugins. Like Jonesey, I use it primarily for stereo panning but it also has several other, more esoteric uses such as Mid/Side decoding, microphone phase/polarity correction and stereo enhancement.

There is a help file for it (vstplugins\channel tools\channel tools.chm).

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I just read the help file (thanks scook) and I see the delay is more of a correctional feature and not an effect-The help file is VERY helpful (duh) in making sence of this plug-It does sound good to my ears-especially on a lead vox-seems to bring it more into prime focus-makes it more up front. The delay was used as an effect in the Groove3 tutorial "Mixing with Sonar X1" which by the way was much better than I anticipated, and seemed to be quite useful.

Probably the plugin I use the most along with EQ and Compression is Channel Tools.  It's a bread and butter tool -- or at least, the effect is a bread and butter effect, but Cakewalk's offering is a sound one.  I'd like to see it added into ProChannel directly...(rather than via an FX Chain)
