Channel tools Corruption? Intermittent Problem

This has happened to me a few times now since Channel Tools came out. I'm in 8.0.2 at the moment.

I have a project/song with a couple instances of channel tools on it. Was working fine when I last closed it. I re-open it next day and WHAM ... minute I play, all 4 CPUs spike to 100% playback is some awful stuttered noise thing - not quite motor boating but sort of similar - track view visual playback is hopping at weird intervals - really bad.

I trace it down to one instance of channel tools, It's as simple as bypass it, all is fine, turn it on - back to the problem. Note that I have another instance of it on another track working just fine. I delete it and re-add another instance - same problem. Finally give up and remove it - figure I'll add in Waves S1 later. Work for a bit save project a couple times. On a whim - go add channel tools right back to where it was, and now ... all is fine again????????????

I've seen this at least 3 times now - very intermittent and non-reproducible - but all linked to channel tools. Anyone else seen anything like this?

Thanks!

Yes, that's how channel tools works.

It should have been in all the reviews ;-)

First thing is update to 8.3.1. I have not seen any problem with Channel Tools.

If you were to give some specs it might be useful.

"First thing is update to 8.3.1."

Shouldn't you do a True Image back up first? At least so you're not ridiculed if the update causes you trouble?

There was a known issue that was supposedly fixed with 8.0.1... which I personally experienced every time I used Channel Tools.

I still find that it does unpredictable things on occasions... the observation that a single instance became corrupted is familiar to me... I've rescued several cranky projects by simply deleting my instances of Channel Tools.

I'm avoiding it for the most part now.

    best regards,

Thats good advice. I have my entire system backed using Vista's backup facility. Thanks to you for reminding me its time to do a another backup.

I have not run into any problems with any of CW's FX. Years ago I did have trouble with FX Pad but not for a long time. I have not used CT on more then one track though. At least I don't recall doing so. I do have a lot of other tools that can do much the same things.
