Channel tools

Guys is it just me?  I've been going through some of the X2 plugins and just messing around to see what does what and i dont hear ANY difference on a track when i add in channel tools.  Should i be hearing a delay or something?  cheers.

It has to be a stereo track. In other words the interleave has to be set to stereo.

--Well, but you're doing more than just inserting in an FX bin, right?  You've tried the pre-sets?  I use this plugin all the time - Flipping the stereo image, narrowing the stereo image on a piano that is spread too wide for ensemble work - things like that.  You've played with it?  As Teego points out, it's for interacting with stereo tracks.

Channel tools is awesome. It should be built into every channel strip.

+1 You're right - It Is that good.  If you use templates, plop it into all the FX bins!

Totally agree. I use CT on an of my Soft Synth outputs to place them precisely in the stereo field.

Actually... in X2 I did find that sometimes with Channel Tools it would stop doing anything or not work at all. Like I'd be doing all sorts of stuff with the controls and the audio would not be changed. I'm hoping I won't have the same problem in X3. I've also had similar problems with R-Mix in X3 where it would be working fine and then it would just stop having any effect no matter what I did. I'd have to delete and reload R-Mix to get it working again. Pretty annoying.

Channel Tools has been a godsend, especially for all those amazing stereo synth sounds that we have today. It's just great to be able to pan the track and not lose any part of the sound.

I'm right in assuming that it's still a 32-bit plug?

There is a 32bit version of Channel Tools but there has been a 64bit version for some time. At least as long as the X Series but I suspect it was initially release in both formats.

Make sure you do not record something that should be Mono in stereo, just to use the stereo image effect. Mostly everything you record should be in mono. Exceptions are synths and drum room mics. Everything else is mono for the most part

Channel tools is one of the best toys the Bakers ever gave us, but it does need to be over a stereo track.
