Charlie- a true story song

This is a song I wrote a while back and never had a decent recording of it until today. Suggestions or critiques are welcome. It is a true story about a guy I knew as a kid. My parents owned a bar for a short time and Charlie would ride his bike to the bar. Thanks in advance for listening .

Hey Robby, it is on the soundclick link. Thanks for trying, I am still tweaking on it some but thought I would go ahead and put it up for some suggestions.

I like your tune, I would mix the drums up a bit more. And by up? I don't mean the volume. I mean I would try to add a few more fills/diversity.

Are you playing to doro? I have one and play it, love the doro..

I play everything on it ,the drums are Addictive Drums. I am not sure what you mean by doro,if you mean dobro there is not one in it. Thanks for listening and commenting, it is just a little tune that I will never do nothing with probably but you never know!

Love the Classic Country. Drums seem a little heavy-handed for the song, and definitely too much high hat. Lovely fills on electric guitar, and your voice is perfect. Also, what happened to Charlie? I couldn't figure it out.

Thanks Larry, I am definitely gonna work on the drums some more. At the end of the song the words are "The bike could do about 15, The car was doing 32" ,in other words he got hit by a car. The song is just something I wrote in a hurry with no intention of doing anything with it, just my mind rambling one day! I did have a guy that liked it enough he was doing it during his live show though. Thanks for commenting.

I was listening on laptop 1-inch speakers, and I couldn't make out the line before "...the car was doing 32." Come to think of it, I probably shouldn't have said anything about the high hat."

Great country. I thought the drums were a little out of context, they sounded like a rock kit and kind of didn't work for me, but otherwise it's really well recorded and mixed.

I like it Teego - and great guitar licks throughout.
I agree with the previous comments about the drums - you could get away using a brushes kit.

Wow, what a cool Americana tune.  Well done. I have been contemplating getting back to a more organic style of music here over the past few months.... I enjoyed that song.

I think there's a "Charlie" in every town. We had an old fellow around here who lived in the woods around the other side of this "country block" that I live on. He had a rundown patched together old single wide trailer with a plywood add on. After his mother died, I think he had lost his license due to drinking and driving because I didn't see him in his beatup old pickup truck any more. I would see him riding his old one speed bike with a basket on the front around the area. One night, while riding on a dark country road, he was hit by a lady in an SUV who didn't see him. He often wore dark clothes and more than one time I passed him on those roads at night and didn't see him clearly until I was fairly close. If the lady had kids in the car and was distracted, I can understand why she didn't see him. Every now and then, when I pass that point in the road, I think about him.

Thanks  Daryl,Rebel and Herb for the comments. The consensus is the drums are a little much but ,man,I had so much fun tweaking them to sound like that. I am going to try Session Drummer's brush kit on it and see what I can come up with. Thank you all for listening and commenting.

Nice tune, and your voice suits it so well.   Very authentic.

Other than the sound of the drums - already covered - I think the mix works pretty well.

Other than the drums, this is a terrific song and performance.  You've got the voice for this, and it sounds like you play to your strengths.  I'm very impressed with your songwriting skills, and I look forward to hearing more from you.

Monty,  I'm not into Country, meaning I can't sing in the style; but, I gotta say you are one talented dude!  How is Soundclick in terms of getting decent feedback from people in the business.  I noted in the "charts" that Charlie was in the 27 spot and had hit the number 4 spot.   What does that mean ... if I may be so bold as to ask?

Thank you sir ! I have just started using Soundclick so I can't really say how the charts work yet. I know they can move up and down quite a bit from one day to the next, it is calculated by unique plays meaning plays from diffent locations etc. In other words someone can't sit there and play a song over and over and have it counted as plays , it only counts one play in that situation. Also I think it was 27 in the overall Country chart and 4 in a subgenre such as Americana chart
